I know a lot of us missed out on last night's game due to it not being televised by FSN/Prime Ticket. I know I was curious to at least see the fight from the game so I looked it up and low and behold:
For such a big guy he really isn't the best fighter.
Ivanans is actually a pretty good fighter. I watch a lot of fights, and you can easily rank Ivanans up there with the top dogs, only difference being he does not have as many majors under his belt as you'd expect. I'm not sure if that's a product of his choice or the team's, at this point.
As a fighter, Ivanans has pretty damn impressive strength, you can see it in the way you throws a lot of these guys around. There are a lot of guys who get into scraps and just throw punches right and left, this can also be a defense tactic. The difference with Ivanans is that he really doesn't mind taking a punch and really prefers to pick his shots. With a strategy like this sure he may take a punch or two once in a while, but it also allows him to land more solid shots with much better consistency. (refer to fight with parros as well as Carcillo)

Concur...also remember that Ivanans couldn't fight for a while because of his face injury. He may have had more fights this year if it were not for the plate in his face.
Hes never really outright pummeled anyone but he can take a heavy heavy punch as evidenced by his fights against Boogard and Laracque. After the fight Shelly looked to have some heavy bruising around his eyes. Ivanans is not in the top 5 but certainly in the top 10.

Ivanans has a great chin, but he has nowhere near the power or skill other top heavies have. He landed a great shot on Parros and still couldn't put him down and other than the much smaller Carcillo he has never really dominated or KOed anybody. He has gotten better as the year has progressed but he definitely needs to drop the gloves more. Also, his last fight with Laraque was pathetic, he was holding on for dear life.

At the end of the season there's no point in fighting frequently and risking injury. Outside of Ivanans the only player that plays the heavyweight role any better is Donald Brashear and he's such an ******* that I would almost rather have Raitis.
