Irsberg or Airsberg
As I listen to Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans pronounce our new #1 goaltender's name I am hearing "Irsberg" from Nick, and "Airsberg" from Daryl. Which is it? (I know Bob Miller and Jim Fox say "Airsberg" too.)

It's neither. But it's a LOT closer to Airsberg. Just try to pronounce that "air" faster than you would usually.

Fox said he asked, and Ersberg told him to say it that way because it'd be too hard for most people to pronounce it any closer to correct.

The proper Swedish pronunciation, according to my Swede friend, is "Ehr-shber-yuh"
The berg in Swedish names is pronounced "berya"

No wonder. The last phonem is tough to pronounce even for Slovenians.
Ehr's-berg is perfect for a non Swede guy.

All in a name
Ersberg is the first Swedish-born goalie in the Kings organization, which might be one of the reasons many fans have trouble pronouncing his name.
He says it's closer to Airs-berg.
"I don't mind, because back home in Sweden they have trouble pronouncing it, too," he said.

I think it's pronounced "Labs' Scab" or "Clouter's tutor".
