About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Got this off Inside the Kings and thought it had some interesting thoughts:

"``One thing that tells me we're headed in the right direction is, at the trade deadline we were looking at a player. To make the deal, it would have required giving up a younger player who's not on our team. The other team gave me four names that i don't think anyone but our hardcore fans has heard of. That's the first time, sitting in this chair, where somebody has said, `To make this deal, we need one of these four players.' As your reserve list gets stronger, and other GMs start asking about your players, it tells you that your reserve list is stronger. That was the first time, other than with Kopitar, that somebody came to me and said, `We like this guy and this guy and this guy.'"
Who do you think this player not on the team was? Hickey? Bernier? Someone from Manchester? And who do you think we were going after?
When other teams ask about our younger players, that should be a red flag for DL to keep that player. The Kings need to start holding on to their prospects if they want to do well in the future.

Need to start?
I can't think of one guy outside of Ryan Munce and Fukufuji that was let go as a young player.
he said that players that only diehard fans may have heard of. I'm sure they went after Hossa and Atlanta wanted a crap load of prospects.
That makes absolutely no sense at all. We would of had no guarantee of re-signing him in the offseason. Which means that Lombardi would have to gamble most of his entire reserve list on a UFA by the end of the season. With all the crap Hossa was giving Atlanta about turning the organization around and making the playoffs, how would you think he would feel if he landed on the 30th place team? Odds are he would be a mercenary come offseason. It was not Hossa.
