Anze arrived home in Slovenia today.
Among other things, when asked about the possible contract extension with LA, he replied something along these lines: "I m not thinking about it yet. I still have 1 year to play in LA and i m not eligible to negotiate about any contract extensions before June 1. But I've always loved the Red Wings team and in the last years I've come to appreciate the Canadian attitude towards hockey and I wouldn't mind accepting an offer from a Canadian club..."
Well, according to the media:
1. Kopi said he liked Detroit AS A KID (just to be specific).
2. He did say he likes "Canadian attitude towards hockey".
He said that in response to whether or not he's thinking about playing for another team.
BUT, he also said: "I really like it in L.A." and that right now he's not thinking about playing anywhere else.
Moreover, he says he believes that once this team gets more experienced, the Kings are gonna be a very good team and that patience is the key.
Only thing I could think of if this were true is that his agent is telling him to say stuff like this to up the dollar amount the kings will pay to retain him.
Not saying there is or isn't any validity to the story/quote, but really, is it that hard for you guys to believe that playing for a cellar-dweller is not that fun and it makes perfect sense to survey other options?
