About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Lubo thinks Crow is a Commi too
This isn't fake as it's being quoted in different Slovenian on-line sources, but I wouldn't put much into it, if anything at all. When asked about a contract extension, was he supposed to say it's either going to happen with the Kings or he's coming back to Europe? He also said he likes it in LA. I say he's a King longterm unless Lombardi lowballs him big time. I don't expect Kopitar to be greedy but I don't think a Dustin Brown type of contract is going to cut it, either. Also, the Kings can always match any offer sheet, though it shouldn't even come to that.

It's pretty clear he was being led into speculation about other teams by the reporter (although the question is not quoted anywhere in the article, you can pretty much see that's what the reported asked, plus Slovenian media seem to generally favor the idea of him moving to a better team - they follow the NHL only superficially and of course know nothing about Kings prospects and the team's future - don't take it personally, it's just because of results. In addition, this is a wire article, written by whoever was currently on duty at STA, probably not even a sports reporter).
Here's another stab at a translation (including the section right before it), although the original poster was pretty much on target:
... he added that he really liked living in California: "I really like it in Los Angeles. It's great that my family's there with me to get me through some rough patches (which are admittedly few and far between."
Kopitar has another year on his contract with the Kings and is currently not thinking about moving to another team: "I have the contract for another season, I cannot start extension negotiations until June 1st. There'll be plenty of time to think about that. Of the other teams I used to like Detroit as a kid, but in the last two years I've gotten to know and appreciate the Canadian hockey attitude and an offer from a Canadian club wouldn't be the worst thing ever."
Things like this always happens when it comes to the European media... First off the media always takes things out of context... and second I think the language barrior can also skew things a bit... I wouldn't read to much into.. Let's all un-bunch our panties....
Oh, you must've understood every single word, eh?
Learn Slovenian and I'll post you our links...
... or just don't post crap... I was quoting Anze and that's all.
Anze will be signed long before Kevin Lowe or anyone else has even pulled the abacus out of the closet to decide how many zeros to put on the end of the offer sheet.
We should shut the LGK server down until a week or two before the draft.
Here we go...
Jack Johnson would have loved to play for the Red Wings.
Every Canadian on our team would have loved to play for the Leafs.
I hate the Red Wings but I would love to play for them. I also hate the Yankees but I wouldn't mind playing for them. It beats most things people do for a living and the money is great.
Is this really thta hard to believe. Heres a kid whos only dream in life is to play hockey I would most his exposure growing up was the Russian players from what team> yeah that right DETROIT. Naturally he would be fond of Detroit, I am fond of Detroit, THEY WIN, WE DON"T, who doesn't want to win?
Same can be said for Canada adn their passion for hockey, it is religion up for the masses. While most on LKG share the same passion as Canadians we are a very very small segment of the general poulation of SO Cal, even if you include the handful of decent Duck fans.
he makes some valids points and I can see exactly where hes coming from, take off the kings colored glasses and objectify brothers and sisters.

I agree with you. Add to that his father - who it seems has a lot of influence at this point. As a coach, he may want to see him play for a winner. I think the Kings need to be really careful with this one.
Knowing LGK, people will jump on the "Hate Anze" bandwagon faster than the Cammy one.
I personally don't see anything wrong with Anze's quotes if he did say that to the Slovenian press. Canadians in general ARE more passionate about their teams. Yes, we have our die hards here in LGK but their fanbase is much much bigger. I've read other forums of other teams and their fans, especially the Canadian ones laugh at how badly the Staples Center crowd sucks. Either way, we know he's going to be exposed to better enviroments outside of Los Angeles. There's nothing we can do about it. The only thing that'll keep players wanting to play in L.A is to win, win, and win.
That's because Canadains actually love hockey. Here in the good ol' USA, hockey comes 3rd or 4th. Just look at the staples Center, we even come behind the indoor football league (who I refused to promote). We are the step-children of sports in this country!
