Lombardi tends to be pleased with the results and happy to be going for a defensive prospect as expected...
Rich Hammond asks Lombardi about the 2nd overall pick: ``Everybody would like to win the lottery, but there's no doubt in my mind that we're going to get a very good player at No. 2. ... I wouldn't say you wouldn't want the No. 1 (pick), but we're comfortable with where we are.''
Even though Bogosian is a better fit with the team right now, I have to think that DL is leaning towards Doughty going into this Draft, not only is he the best overall player but he has also publicly stated that he wants to play for this franchise. Even though that means nothing at all, in the end it does add some color/appeal to him that was not there before the interview. I cannot wait for NHL Draft 2008.
I pray for some sort of miracle which involves the following:
The Dallas draft pick, the Squid, and a prospect for #3, #4, or #5 overall.
No one here can deny that they would be absolutely thrilled to get two of the following: Schenn, Doughty, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, or hell, even Filatov. Give Frolov another Russian to play with! Do it, Deano!
This just like vegas. He broke even at Keno (lottery) so now its time to play some poker.
God this draft is going to be epic. I can't wait to see our training camp this coming season. I hope that Doughty or Bogosian is ready to join the roster next season, would love to see one of them play a long with Preissing or Visnovsky.

"What those (numerous) picks do is give you options.'' Yeah, the option to trade up and he will. It remains to be seen how far he can. That's some rarefied air up by the 3-5 spots and in your scenario the other team will have to covet Cammy which is not all that likely. Packaging the Dallas and the Flames 2nd rd pick to get up around 12-14 would be about as much as I would reasonably hope for. Get Doughty and there will be a very good physical d-man around that neighborhood and then you still have the #32 pick
he never answers quesitons, just gives long answers that don't really have anything to do with the original question or are just far too botched up to have any real significant meaning.
Just like a god damn politician
