I'd also love to keep Frolov around, but we need to be realistic people...you won't be able to keep everyone in the fold, that is, unless they want to play for free.
Or they are happy playing in Los Angeles, ala Brown. The good thing about having all these young players develop together is that they build close relationships with each other. I know that doesn't mean a lot, but it could mean extra incentive to stay in Los Angeles.
If the Kings end up with the 1st overall selection and DL and company are truly thinking defenseman, I hope he trades down. Don't get me wrong, I'm on the Stamkos bandwagon. I'd love to have him wearing a Kings jersey on draft day, but think about what else DL could acquire from another GM who is sporting a stiffy for Stamkos.
Just to have those choices, draft Stamkos or trade down and in doing so you can still select one of the top young dmen in this draft, possibly pick up another top young blueliner and whatever DL can squeeze out of another team as a bonus. Getting the 1st overall gives DL and his team quite a bit more than just the opportunity to draft a player, it gives them more options on draft day and that IMO is the true meaning of STAAAAAAMMMMMMMKOOOOOOOSSSSSS!!!!

Be realistic...I do want him to stay here, and I do hope he would...but, I live in the real world, and with he contracts that Kopitar, Johnson, O'Sullivan will all be getting in the coming years, and what Frolov can get on the open market, and what it will take to shore up the defense, one to two of the young kids will have to go, and Frolov isn't getting any younger.
I like the guy, and I think he gets a bad rap around here (mostly because I think most LGK'ers are morons), but be realistic.
Bogosian and Pietrangelo are the types of Dmen we need. Big, strong, good all around dmen.
And at the time Brian Boyle was drafted, the Kings needed a big center. Guess what? By the time he is ready to step up, the Kings have Anze Kopitar, with a few players able to fill in the #2 center spot.
That doesn't mean the Boyle pick is a bad one, but by the time these players are ready to play, the needs might not be there.
