We did what we had to do, and we got extra picks. Most of the dead weight players will probably leave for UFA, and we have a big load of prospects and talent that would make even the Oakland A's blush (sorry about that one). But I know most of you know what I mean. I think we have a lot to be proud of.

Agree as well. With the "assets" we had that were healthy and available, DL hands were tied.
I hope that there is a little learned from this though.
NTC must be given more of a value.
And, maybe a few trades leading up to the deadline, even if you lose a little value. Moving Nagy for something may have been a little easier when he was healthy.
But, again, with what he had, he did all he could.
DL did well? No. No, he didnt. He failed miserably. I think DL sucks.
hey retard, you have stamkos' picture in your signature, if we get rid of the dead weight and replace them with hard working youngsters that may help us win the majority of the remaining games, how do you still figure we're gonna draft him?
looking at what we were going to trade...
Nagy-injured, no one would dare take a chance on him
thornton-he's played what 2 games since being hurt- late rd pick when healthy, who would give up anything for him when marginally healthy?
Willsie-not sure why he wasn't picked up, whats his contract at?
Armstrong-same as wilsie, i do think armstrong is some what valuable to the kings though
blake-has there been any substantial report saying if he would or wouldnt waive his NTC? kinda puts the team in a bind.
I just dont think we had the assets to get anything of quality back. of those players above, who would have brought back anything more then a late round pick or a marginal prospect? blake if he waived his NTC, but other then him, no one else!

I guarantee you that with the goaltending we have, getting rid of Nagy/Thornton/Wilsie/Army/Cammy/Lubo/Blake/Insert pretty much whoever else you want here and bringing up any and all youngsters from Manchester would have virtually ZERO impact on our draft position.
I think we did well considering, though I would have liked to seen a bit more return for Stuart - still though, it's better than losing him to free agency and getting nothing.
Also, picking up Huet for an '09 2nd would have been something worth going for.
Armstrong I don't think would yield enough return to make it worth trading him. As it is, he is a great value for the Kings.
If we can sign Blake to a decent contract extension then he is better off kept than traded (face it, we have very few vets on the blue line).
I'm surprised Thornton didn't go though, I think he could be a real asset to certain playoff teams (injury or not).
Nagy would be undervalued due to injury but is there a chance we might try to resign this guy?
