How can you
Consider Nagy may not play again this year and he has been injury prone all year. Just the extra piece I want for my playoff team in the physical playoffs.
The money isn't a factor because it didn't prevent the Kings from getting someone better. These are the only people willing to sign for a 30th place team. You thought it was tough trying to get FA's to sign here last year - wait until THIS off-season!
DL's got to build this team from the draft on out. There is no one of any significant worth who will sign here as a FA until there's a playoff team, built from within, in place.
Agreed which is why a major/right trade at the draft will be crutial! Our true assetts (at least expendible assetts) are Cammi, some of the prospects and pick's in this years draft. From my perspective, DL needs to look to shore up this team through a great trade and forget the "UFA" day fiesta.
Just hate that he is consistently mis-used on the 2nd line, at first WAY TOO MUCH by Murray and now still a bit by Crawford.
I guess I don't really hate HIM... He goes out there and gives 100% and earns the ice time... I just get mad that he takes up precious minutes from more talented players, especially on the power play. You could argue these other players should "try harder" I suppose... but then I'm more interested in scoring goals and winning games then rewarding who gets to practice first and leaves last. This isn't middle school anymore.
Who brought them in for just the right amount of time so they are on their way out?
But wasn't the point of signing them, and putting up with their pitiful play on the Kings, to get something for them at the deadline? I don't see now how anyone can say signing Nagy, Thornton, Willsie, or Blake worked out well for the Kings.

Moving Modry was easy, he was the only signing of Lombardi's that played well this season.
I just think it is funny that people defend Lombardi for not moving those guys because of how bad they are when Lombardi was the one who brought them in in the first place! Shouldn't he then be taken to task for signing them in the first place or for giving Blake a no trade clause and then wanting to trade him?
I agree with you that we can't blame DL about this. Blake ****ed him and the team by not agreeing to go to SJ, DET, or anywhere else. Nagy, who probably would have been our 2nd most valuable asset, was hurt so he couldn't deal him anywhere. Now we wait until the draft.

This seems to be the only problem most people have with him and as I've told a few before if that's the problem then blame Crow not Army, all he's doing is busting his ass and getting rewarded for it
Other than the unnecessary Army bashing i agree with your original post

No, the "point" of signing each of them was...
Blake - Veteran leadership for the kids and sway Jack to join the team early... CHECK.
Willsie - Just a body to fill the roster. Not every signing can be exciting!
Nagy - Either fit in well here and re-sign longer term OR trade at the deadline. I don't think Lombardi anticipated Nagy's injury handcuffing option B!
Unlike you (and many others around here), I don't use hindsight to point out the flaws in signings. Some moves work like a charm and some don't.
