Teddy, I still believe in you. I think you've taken an unfair amount of **** around these parts lately, and, quite honestly, you were the best skater on your line tonight.
But...
for future reference:
When one of your linemates gets run into the boards--even if you think it's a relatively clean hit--and he's left motionless on the ice--even if only because the wind's been knocked out of him--and especially if that linemate is the highest paid player on the team and one of the young faces of the franchise, and even if the guy who did it is big, scary Dion Phaneuf who's pissed off about being left off Team Canada and generally butthurt about not living up to the hype of three years ago....
YOU NEED TO GET IN HIS FACE AND THROW DOWN
..even if you're going to get your ass beat a bit.
Hopefully Smyth and O'Donnell are telling him the same thing, because those three seconds that elapsed before someone got to Phaneuf told you all you needed to know about how this game would turn out.
Welcome to the NHL, Edward.
And, Dustin...you're on notice too.

Sure, but that's like calling someone the least retarded when pairing them with Sam and Corky.
Honestly Purcell has been decent on the 1st line, but I still wish the ****er could pass the puck to the stick of his teammate without leading him 2 feet too far and that a light breeze didn't knock him off the puck.
Honestly I think he did try a bit to get in there but thank christ he didn't. He tried for a moment to step over Kopitar's helmetless noodle with his skate but then thought better of it.

Disagree. That **** needs to be instinctive. Remember when Gleason threw with Chara? Granted, Teddy's no Timmah, but neither is Dion a Zdeno.
Kings got pushed around tonight, and that really set the tone. Teddy's got a lot to prove at this point--sticking up for your linemate, especially when the principals are guys like Kopitar and Phaneuf, needs to be automatic, even if he takes three punches for every one he throws. He's got to know that it's going to be ten (or nine) person scrum before too long anyway.

No dude, you're misunderstanding me. I was saying thank god he didn't because he was going to try and step over kopitar's helmetless head with his skate to get in a shoving contest with someone while off balance. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to see anyone stepping on any Kings' player's unprotected head or neck with their skate.
