I don't think Fox or Panger are homers to the point that's it's unbearable & I watched the Phoenix broadcast of the game the other nite. I think Panger is the better of the two because he talks clearly & actually finishes one word before he starts another. It's the small things that make a seperate the good ones from the greats.
I'm an Angels fan & Rex Hudler bugs the #### out of me he's such a homer, you expect it to a degree a la Fox & Panger, but Hayward & Hudler just give ex-jocks in the booth a bad name. Ahlers is waaaay better than the, "and we lose a puck & gain a faceoff" guy that preceded him. I've at least heard Ahlers analyze play at times at a level you didn't get from the first play by play guy they had.
How Hayward has a job is beyond me. The only reason his name should still come up is when people say Roy was better than Brodeur & Brodeur was a product of the Devils defensive system. That's when I point to Hayward's career stats & how amazingly bad they were everywhere, except during his stay in Montreal when they actually weren't bad. Then I ask that person to explain to me again how a goalie on a team that had Carbonneau, Skrudland, Robinson, Chelios, Claude Lemieux, Svoboda, McPhee etc etc isn't also a product of great defensive play.
eff off hayward!!!! avery said it best: "you were a ****ty player and are a ****ty anouncer" damn straight! dammit perry just scored and ballskey just missed i HATE the ducks

My feelings on Fox exactly. Not a homer at all, but for whatever reason has started some really bad habits in his speaking and it has become almost unbearable to listen. Talks way too much and does not complete his words before starting another. I'd love for them to bring in Marty or bring back Nick Nickson. He does color as though none of us has ever watched hockey before. I don't want a coaches clinic every game. I want enthusiasm and some stories on the players ala Vin Scully or Chick Hearn.... He's been at this for what, 20 years or so, he should be getting better not getting worse.
Exactly how I feel. The other night I was watching the Ducks game on mute, and my son walks in and says, "Is it muted so you don't have to listen to Hayward?" Even he knows how horrible the guy is.
The jacka$$ mentioned in tonight's broadcast, "Here's another player the Kings didn't think was good for LA, and look at him now, he's not doing so bad". And the other guys, I don't know his name, and don't care, snickering in the background.
