I would LOVE for the Kings to move Visnovsky. I guess they still can until his new contract kicks in July 1st. I think they could get a lot for him....

Would you move him for a good (not great) first round pick? At the moment I really hate his new contract. It's very long. It's big. It has a NTC.
I don't see DL trading up the Dallas pick to get in the top 10.
I think he might wait and see if Filatov drops like Cherapanov (unlikely I know) and maybe trades up to grab him somewhere between 11-15. Otherwise, a lot of the big shutdown defensemen are ranked later in the draft and I think he'll be looking at them in the low 20's, whether he has to trade up to get the one he likes there remains to be seen.
What I'm expecting is the second to be Bogosian, the Dallas pick to be used to grab either Filatov or a shutdown defensemen then the second rounder being used to grab whatever we didn't get with the Dallas pick.
Remember, just because we have a lot of forwards in the system doesn't mean you just stop picking them. I wouldn't mind seeing a European goalie taken in the second or third either (European so he can stay home and develop).
There are maybe two teams that would consider moving their top pick, those are Atlanta and Columbus. The best candidate is Atlanta. They need Forward help now, not 2-3 years from now if they draft Filatov.
I think DMAN3474 is on the right track, as I feel any deal to land 2 of the top 4-5 D will have to include Atlanta.

He did not have the best U18 tourney, but I still don't see him dropping out of the top 10, and there is still a great chance he will be gone by #5.
There are some great Blogs of his available on HFBoards, if you care to try and find out what kind of a kid he is.

I really don't either. There are some really strong D in the 10-20 range, and as stated we might have to move up to get the guy we want, but the Dallas pick is a pretty solid pick as it stands.
That is not to say that DL will not move a player and or pics/prospects to Atlanta to grab the #3 pick. Cammy could very well be that player. His value is not that as high as it could be, but we are talking about trading for a draft pick that could end up being a bust and we are not trading for a proven player. The issue for us is, other Teams might have better offers for Atlanta and will grab the #3 spot.

I think the mission -- to get a solid stay-at-home d-man to go with the d-man they take at #2 -- can be accomplished either with the Dallas pick or by trading it up 5-8 spots to the high teens / low twenties. It's a very deep year for d-men. And I've noticed that defensemen without much offensive capability tend to drop in the draft. Sort of like the way they get ignored for the Norris. It really won't take that much to get this done.
I would think that'd be enough to move up into a top 8 pick. I wouldn't do the deal unless I could get Schenn or Pietrangelo. I wouldn't move up for one of the forwards.
Cammy is definately on Atlanta's radar. TSN reported a couple days after the draft lottery that a trade regarding their pick was not out of the question.
I think that DL has in his mind though, places a greater value for the squid than most LGK'ers do. I doubt he would be willing to trade additional assets beyond just him for an unproven player.
Overall, it is an exciting time and should prove to be a very interesting draft. Go Kings!
This draft is about "De-Fence". The Kings will have their infamous list of desireable young NHL defensemen that they hope they can pry away from another team. I'm sure various senarios are already in place, if a deal can be made using available assets like Cammy, Lewis, picks, etc. they'll do it. As far as drafting goes, if the Kings can't swing a deal for a young NHL d-man, I'd look for them to trade up to pick up 2 players in the top 10, but that is only if a deal cannot be made for a young NHL ready d-man. Lombardi is under the gun. He doesn't have a lot of time to turn this organization around and can't wait a year or 2 (or maybe even 5 years) for two rookies to grow into NHL d-men. But with that said, he probably won't sell the farm either to pick up someone right now. I think he'd err on the side of caution and keep rebuilding.
IF they went via the draft route they'd have Jack Johnson, plus two top 10 d-men who could grow together. They could be an excellent core group of d-man that will hopefully mature just about the time Bernier is about to take the reins in goal. Brown, Frolov and Kopitar would be in their prime and then the Kings could be ready to do some real damage in the NHL.
Also, I wouldn't count on Lubo getting traded for various reason but I also think the Kings like him and they want to see if this bad season was just a fluke and see if he can return to old form.
I would think that'd be enough to move up into a top 8 pick. I wouldn't do the deal unless I could get Schenn or Pietrangelo. I wouldn't move up for one of the forwards.
We've been covering this for a while in this thread:

I dump him just because I don't like how he plays defense. He gets pushed around like a rag doll then coughs the puck up. I know we'd miss him on the power play but isn't that what Hickey is for? I don't know...it just seems to me the Kings lack toughness....
