Just got home and wasn't able to watch the game. Rather than combing through the GDT, can we get some summary/analysis here? How did he look in both ends, his shot, his skating, etc.?
Upgrade over Willsie for sure. Pretty good skater, good hockey sense, good vision. It's just one game though..hopefully we see more of him this season.
Skated well, looked comfortable with the puck, made some nice passes, and he hit the post by shooting <gasp> HIGH GLOVE SIDE. A solid debut for the rook.
He was an inch from his first goal-- was left out for the last minute of the game and played in different situations. I don't think you could've asked for more out of his very first NHL game.
Right off the bat he impressed me with his composure. He looked calm, mature and veteran like out there (i.e. no running around, acurate crisp passes at high speeds or in turns, etc). Even though he's skinny he didn't shy away from necessary contact, although I wouldn't say he played physical. Got a pretty good shot near the end there that went off the crossbar; he'll get more chances for sure.
Immediate and noticeable upgrade over Wilsie (which isn't saying much I guess) IMO.
P.S. Edmonton starts off their post game show w/ "the Oilers lost tonight to the worst team in the National Hockey League - the Los Angeles Kings." Thanks man.
