About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I'll give my one-game scouting report:

-He showed extremely good vision on the ice. Seems to be really good at finding the open man, and like Bland said, is good at putting pucks into open ice for teammates to skate into. His playmaking ability looks much better than someone like Moulson.
-He seems really good at finding open ice for himself--maybe one of those guys that the puck just finds his stick.
-At 6'3", he has very good reach. Definitely has good hands, too.
-He ripped a hard shot off the crossbar. I think we'll like his wrist shot.
-Seems to have good top speed
Might need work:
-He's not quick off the line. I know it's tough for the tall guys, but his first few steps aren't great.
-He was tentative when it came to loose pucks. Seemed to want someone else to get a couple of pucks along the boards. Would like to see him be more assertive.
Overall:
He created several scoring opportunities in his first game. Easily could have had a couple of points. The guy is going to be an NHL player, and at the very least, will rack up a lot of assists. I'm really pleased. Great find by DL.
Also, Sully drew raves from the Oilers broadcasters. They were surprised the Wild "would give up on him" and trade him for Demitra. They said: "He has star written all over him." He was excellent tonight. He created several turnovers and was pretty awesome with the puck. And props to Giuliano, who has vastly improved our 4th line with his quickness.
I thought we played well tonight, but the Oilers were flat for about 45 minutes.
For what it's worth, the British pronunciation of Purcell (as in Henry Purcell, the baroque composer) is PUR-sull; Canada being a commonwealth of Britain, it doesn't surprise me that they would default to pronouncing it that way as well.
It sounded like they went with the preferred e-VAN-ins that most announcers outside of the Pacific division use.
The Toronto announcers definitely pronounced it e-van-ins and sometimes e-van-es but I’m pretty sure I heard it as e-van-ans from Edmonton, either way it’s annoying as hell
