If Crawford starts him tonight against the Wings, the best team in the league, when LaBarbera has been solid and Cloutier hasn't played in a while... then you will all know for sure that the organization is tanking this season on purpose... which is not acceptable.
I don't agree. First of all, the Kings really don't have a snowballs chance of winning anything against the Red Wings, especially IN Hockytown. It hasn't happened since God knows how long and that was when the Kings weren't dead last in the entire NHL. Secondly, wouldn't it make sense to rest JLB while the Kings get pummeled for teams they might actually have a chance against?

You bring up some good points. The Kings do have an unpredictable way of elevating their game against the teams that are already up there in wins. JLB will probably get a rest soon and Crow may put some stock in the returning 4.85 debacle, especially after hearing the praise piled on him after his last AHL game.
With the trade deadline looming a lot of players are going to bring their best game, since their names may have been mentioned in trade blogs and such they can be sure scouts are watching.
Cloutier better not started to tonight, no reason at all, Barbs was solid against the rags. What kind of message would that send. No doubt he'll be backing up tonight, and most likely see some action on Sunday, fact is Aubin was not a reliable back up, see the devils game allowing 2 goals on 3 or 4 shots. Lets hope cloutier can be more reliable. Atleast with clloutier you know he's not affraid to mix it up if someone takes an extra poke at him.
He BETTER not play against the wings tonite! I have been waiting toooo long to see the Kings win at the JOE! I'm going to the Joe Louis tonite to see a win, or something close to it!
Wow! What's the over/under on how many games it'll be till the Kings win in Detroit?
Would an OT or SO loss count as "something close to" a win? I think it would.
I agree. I hate hearing the fans reaction to him at Staples. I know some of them are booing to send a message to management, but come on... most are just being asses. And does he really need the sarcastic cheering with the easiest saves?
<snip>
I've said in other threads that I want to see Dan go out there and be an absolute fortress, but I have to stand by my 6 goals on 5 shots (thanks, Jaroslav).
Sure, I like a good joke as much as the next malcontent. However, how well has "fans booing to send a message" to management worked out?? Oh, it hasn't? Really? Didnt notice. This is a sensitive topic for me because I have played this position since I was a wee tiny tot... knee high to Cammy even. Screw rose colored glasses, I had rose colored lasiks. My opinion on this is simply that we as goalies are generally headcases. As a fault and habit, even if we watched the play unfold and saw that deflection off our defensemens skate, we still overanalyze the goal, figure out what we did wrong, get mildly pissed and blame ourselves for not finding a way to do the job. Multiply that by a million dollar contract, a Staples Center full of boobirds ,and a flashing red light and I tell you it's the makings for disaster.
Headcases. We've seen em here before. Put yourself in those shoes. One questionable goal leads to questioning ourselves. Then, the head clears and we hear the boos... and self confidence and comfort drop. Then you overthink. Instead of letting time and learned reflex do the job, we think about where we should be and what we should do and whats happening next and look again... another goal.. more boos... we're injured... we're trying.. we know were getting paid and lucky for it and should be doing better...have to clear the mind. tune them out. bad play.. lucky save... no response. out of the zone they go.. puck trickles back in for an icing.. skate up to stop the puck.. cheers. Oh awesome. Bronx cheers... Injured out, final game of the season. Bring the kids on the bench for the view and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Stay classy, LA.
Im not worried about how he plays. Whatever he does at this point is moot. People have short attention spans and even shorter fuses. Los Angeles as a whole market is a spoiled spoiled area and a ****ty place to be a loser. Fans are fickle. Bring us championships or leave. Let us inflate you and hype you out of control then burst your bubble as quickly as we created it for you. There's always Anaheim down the street. Dan Cloutier walked into the organization three steps back because fans were pissed about the contract and the lack of acquiring *INSERT ELITE GOALTENDER HERE*. Every tiny shuffle forward that WAS made on his part was drowned out by a losing season, an overall crappy team dynamic, and the everpresent played out joke about him going all Brokeback Mountain with Marc Crawford. It really matters not what he does. He has already been counted out. Whenever he does end up playing, expect Home Ice to implode under the weight of a million internet beachballs.
