I've been going to Staple Center since it opened. All those years of Kings games, I was never impressed with the entertainment during pre game, in between periods, and during play stoppages.
The organ music, the drummers, and those video tidbits that you can't make out what the heck they are saying? The same old commercials the plays over and over again. That's not entertainment.
And we are supposed to be the "Entertainment Capital of the World?"
Got invited to a Clippers game tonight, and the Clippers played the most boring half of basketball EVER. But...
They have a DJ that entertained the crowd when the team is not playing well. He kept the crowd in the game. And when the Clippers finally pulled their collective heads out and won the game. The DJ kept the crowd pumped.
So what does everyone think?

you gotta admit the projection on the ice is pretty bad-ass; i'm sure it gets repetitive to the sth's, but i was impressed at the 4 games i went to this year.
Call me boring, but when I go to a hockey game, I want to see hockey, and on the jumbotron during breaks and intermissions, I want to see hockey highlights, interviews with players, updates on prospects and manchester results, and maybe some hockey bloopers and hockey trivia. If there's a mites team that can come out and skate 5v5 for 5 minutes during an intermission, awesome, those guys are hilarious. No DJ, no Cartman, no "let's make some noise," no Day-O, no Kiss Cam, no t-shirts, no contests that don't directly involve either an instant seat upgrade or some free tickets to more hockey, no clips of pop music to be cut off by the faceoff besides the organ (unless it's specifically related to some player's favorite song or a hockey situation like an opponent going to the penalty box to the tune of girls just wanna have fun or the i love LA after a goal). I'll take special guest zamboni drivers if they're recently returned servicemen & servicewomen.
overall, if you need auxilliary entertainment to enjoy the world's best live sport, then you should probably watch it at home on TV. or go to chuck e cheese or something.
oh, and for f's sake, turn the house lights down when it's not intermission so that people can watch the game and are discouraged from getting up and moving around.
the PA annoucer should also give updates whenever whoever's playing against the ducks scores. just for laughs.
I also hate it when the volume is turned up whenever whoever is running the board feels that the crowd isn't making enough noise. People sit on their hands when the game isn't very exciting. Nothing wrong with a quiet arena when nothing much is going on.

I actually disagree here. If the team isn't making things happen, the crowd is the one that needs to get behind them with "Let's go Kings!" or "Go Kings Go!" chants. The players tend to feed off the energy from the crowd.
In basketball, the Away team generally calls a timeout if the home team makes a bunch of good plays/shots in a stretch of a few minutes. They call a timeout to keep the crowd out of it... because it gives a shot of adrenline to the home team more often than not.
Let's use the Royal Rebound for example. Down 4-0... yeah. The crowd is dead, I completely understand. But when the Kings scored two times or so, the energy started building up. You can argue that it's because the Kings did something... therefore the fans did something. But Anze said in a post-game interview that it's thanks to the fans that they were able to come back and win the game in OT.
What I'm saying is... even if the Kings are down 1-0 or 2-0... we should be chanting... making noise DURING play. We're not down by a lot in that situation, why should we stay dead quiet? If you don't want to make noise, stay home. Going to a sporting event should be a place to really root for the home team, why else is it so important to get home-ice advantage in the playoffs.
What I really hate is when the team is down and the crowd is quiet... yet they go crazy for T-Shirts during the TV timeouts. Or they get really loud when the Loudest fan of the game contest comes on. That's ridiculous when they've been quiet for most of the game.

If I am at a hockey game I want to see hockey...and of course the classic hockey music---ORGAN MUSIC. We need something like the old days. I don't want to see anything that is like the NBA since that league has no class and is all crap anyways.
