About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. The veteran depth on the blueline in Los Angeles forced Harrold back to the minor leagues
My favorite line.
I'm liking Boyle more and more!! Anyone else think he's captain material? With all this talk about who might step up the next couple years to become captain, why not Boyle? He's vocal on the bench, and I think he's the type of player that will stick up for his teamates.

It's a really bad idea to have rookies who might not even be an NHL regular be given the C.
Sorry, my mistake. I guess it was just wishful thinking that Blake won't be returning next year, so you were asking who the captain would be next year
If Blake comes back next year, I guess it's him by default. If he doesn't, it's an obvious question mark. I though Armstrong was the #1 candidate this year, but he didn't even get the 'A'. So who knows.
Just reading the write up on Boyle at HF, and watching the games he played this year in LA, he has the feel of a team leader IMO. Unless Kopitar, Brown, or Cammy (if he gets re-signed) steps up...besides Blake, I don't see a viable candidate.
I didn't say next year. Maybe 3-4 years down the road. I don't see anyone on our current roster that is 'captain material'.
Jack Johnson
Just watch the way he stands up for his teammates on the ice. He's the first one into a scrum and he's usually the last one to be separated by a linesman. I won't be shocked if he's wearing the "C" by age 25.

TRUE!! I can't believe I failed to mention Jack. Thanks for bringing that up. You're exactly right.
