Hickey VS Turris

This time last year the same win/lose argument took place because 2007 was thought to have a clear top 3. Kings lost, by winning, and ended up drafting 4th.

I mention this because Turris just signed with the Yotes.

I don't think anyone is expecting Hickey to play in the NHL next season.

Just because Turris signed does not mean he'll play in Phoenix. Hickey signed with the Kings last summer.

All it means is that they are both under contract and not eligible to re-enter the draft.

The contracts don't kick in until they play a certain number of games (10 I believe).

The article said he would play in the last three games for phoenix, I cant wait to see what this guy can do at the nhl level!

Defenseman take longer to develop. That being said, there was a publication recently cited here that had Hickey making the jump next year.

No, but he could surprise everyone like Vlasic did a couple of years ago in San Jose.

Hockey News I believe. I'm reading the issue and they believe Hickey will "surely crack the Kings roster next season", which would be outstanding if so. I think I read a similar projection from another website also.

Gilbert Brule played in the NHL before Kopitar, and Nikita Alexeev played in the NHL before Frolov.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. I was a strong supporter of Turris last season, but ultimately, it doesn't matter who starts first. That may not have been your intent by starting this thread, but unfortunately, some people will take it that way.

So we will get run over all year next year too!! Trade Preissing and Harrold and get a couple Tim Gleason type tough mean stay at home D men, or we are looking at another year of a$$ woopings nightly.

There's no need to resign Blake or Dallman, and I doubt that Hickey is with the Kings next season. That gives you three holes to fill. I would like to see one of those done via a trade for a top 4 defenseman, and the other one filled via the UFA route. Someone like Orpik that has good size, blocks a lot of shots and is physical. The third hole probably does get filled by Blake, but I don't know why.
