Do you know what the Kings’ plans are with the new team in Ontario, Calif., and their ECHL affiliation for next season?
“I don’t know at this point. I’m starting to get a little bit of information, but it’s pretty raw right now, so I don’t have all the details. That’s as much as I can tell you. I don’t know anymore than that.”
Kings assistant general manager Ron Hextall said yesterday that packaging Aubin in a trade is possible if there is interest. Another NHL team could acquire Aubin via trade and send him immediately to their AHL affiliate. Hextall added that the Kings will not move any young players in trades.

With Dean at the helm we might need two ECHL teams for the next few years to accommodate all the prospects
No reason AEG can't operate more than one ECHL affiliate. Barry Kemp operated Long Beach and Texas at the same time. Keep Reading going as a feeder to Manchester and Ontario can hold a few "higher" level prospects or veterans close by in Ontario.
Same as the Angels regularly send top vets to their single-A in Rancho for rehab instead of out their AAA in Salt Lake.
There is nothing preventing the Kings from having two ECHL affiliates and since AEG is %50 owners in the Royals I doubt that an ECHL affiliate in Ontario would cause them to pull up stake.
The Ontario Reign hasn't yet received a berth from the ECHL.
