About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. i realize that this may be an unpopular opinion, but know is the time to start really evaluating some "talent," and yeah, Peter Harrold isn't very good.

I can live with Harrold as the 6th dman on next year's squad if it means Preissing is playing elsewhere.
despite being a gigantic pussy, Preissing makes infinitely better decisions with the puck and probably has the best first pass of any of the Kings defenseman and understands the position. he's having a tough year, so i'm willing to see him again next season.
Harrold thinks he's a forward with a tad more responsibility... he's a slicker, less smart Kevin Dallman.

That first pass ability is useless once the hint of forecheck pressure is applied to Tom. When Preissing has time and space he's a fine defenseman, particularly while playing the point on the power play, but I've seen it time and time and time again this year, apply pressure and watch the puck come fluttering off his stick when he's in his own zone.
I agree that Preissing is much better than Harrold. Harrold isn't a total wash, but as I said when he was first called up, he's "soft". Preissing right now, at this point in time, is more experienced and a better decision maker than Harrold. Preissing plays positionally well, but not physically tough. However, he is larger than Harrold still and is not bumped off the puck as easily.
For next season, Harrold should either remain in Manchester for another year, or is packaged for immediate defensive help. After all, Hickey also plays a similar style and he is expected to be ready within a couple years and would be pushing Harrold to be moved then.
It is a little too early to give up on him, isn't it? He's had a cup of coffee in the NHL, and he's a defenseman. I'm not comparing the two, but I remember when everyone was convinced Chara wasn't going to amount to anything.
