Next year, I would not mind seeing Norstrom and Blake back at a significantly reduced rate. I think Priessinng and Stuart are playing better now and could stick around, Harold looked like a guy who is ready to stay in the NHL, and Vis just sucks this year, and if we could get decent value for him, I would not mind it. Scoring from D-men is down and that is what he is, an ofennsive D-man. He turns the puck over too much and has really been dissapointing. I would not hesitate to pull the trigger for another scorer, but thats just me. I think our D is coming along nicely and will be improved next year if we keep most of the same parts in place.
Johnson-Blake
Stuart-Harold
Prieissing-Norstrom
Petiot or Dallman
I would. No reason in the world to bring both of those two back.
I think Lombardi is committed to Visnovsky whether he likes it or not at this point. Lubo and that contract aren't going anywhere, unless whatever is coming back isn't of equal value.
I'm still banking on the Kings moving an extra forward over the off season to fill one of the holes on defense next season.
I'd keep Lubo. One bad season out of how many since he's been here? He still shows flashes of good play and his shot is killer. i think once the team balances out, he'll do better too.
Preissing is averaging :32 seconds a game on the PK & a little over 13 even strength minutes, both place him 6th among the 6 regulars. He's also the only one of the 6 regulars to get the old healthy scratch. And despite Blake's bum hip early on, Preissing was still right point #2 on the PP & not the top guy (maybe that's on Crawford & not Tom). I don't think Harrold has to be the better of the two for Tom to be shopped. The truth is between Harrold, Visnovsky & Preissing, no one can carry a heavy load on the PK & the teams top three penalty killing defenceman are not tied up for next season. And of the ones who are tied up, JMFJ is the only who can take on a heavier load.
Preissing has almost always been sheltered from the PK except in 2005-06 for a Sharks team that finished 23rd in penalty killing & gave up 242 goals. Both uncharacteristically bad for that team, even the 2002-03 team that missed the playoffs didn't allow that many goals.
This current Kings blueline was built for the PP first & everything else second. Without a doubt the penalty kill has suffered & it has the potential to get worse if the proper pieces aren't added. The logical thing would be to trade someone who isn't ready to carry a regular role for someone that can. Why not Preissing when Harrold, who like Preissing is right handed & can step in to replace his offensive numbers? I think we're all in agreement that Harrold is ready to replace Preissing on the PP, is the 13 + :32 really that much of a stretch?

That's EXACTLY why I'm all for "Trade for a tough defensive defenseman".

That's where Nagy or Cammy come to mind...
I'd be all over DL if he can somehow trade Cammalleri for a tough young NHL-ready defensive D-man and a tough defensive forward. We wouldn't miss Cammy's offensive production too much to be honest (Especially if DL keeps Purcell, Boyle and Moulson up), and we would get:
-More defensive stability.
-A line that is pretty much almost a legitimate checking line (X-Zeus-Calder).
-And most importantly, improved PK.
