So far, the only public utterance from [Rob] on the subject of being traded is that he doesn’t want to be. You know what I would like to hear? I would like to hear [Rob] say he will do whatever is necessary to help the [Kings’] franchise – even if it means being traded.

Amen-doesnt really seem like Rocket Science. If Blake going to Carolina meant that the Kings would be better next season when Blake rejoins the team; doesnt it seem like a small sacrifice to make next years team better?
Thank you! If Blake TRULY wants to help the team like he's been saying, then he'd go wherever for a couple months and then come back and be ready for next season.
I like Bill Clement, but I don't agree with him on all this.

Mats Sundin really has no choice but to waive his no-trade clause. If he doesn’t, he is announcing that the fire that drives 99% of NHL players doesn’t burn inside his belly at the same temperature. In the hearts of true hockey players, nothing trumps the passion to win the Stanley Cup. I believe Mats has this passion.
I think that is BS. He wants to win it with Toronto, if he goes and wins it with another team that he has only been with for a couple months it would not be the same at all. Ray Bourque played with Boston forever, but never got a cup, then went to Colorado for a couple months, and rode Forsberg & Sakic to the Cup. Lame. Double lame for flaunting it around Boston.
Just because you ran hard in the Boston marathon for many years and maybe deserved to win, but just came up short, doesn't mean you can go to New York, ride the bus to the 3/4 mark of their race and fill the same sense of accomplishment when you "win."
But whatever Sundin does at least he will have people's respect. Blake isn't anywhere near that.

um, Ray Bourque was traded to Colorado the year BEFORE they won the cup. he was there for the whole season... Blake was the defenseman they acquired at the deadline.
But, it is not his fault he has an NTC. I will not mind if he picks a convenient team for him to go to. But if he chooses to not go to ANY team...then BOOOOOOOO!
Regardless, Blake is Blake. Fool us once, bla blah blah.
What I want to know is where DL stands in all of this. Privately is he ok with Blake holding the power? Did he expect this from him? That type of thing.

So whats your view on Luc taking off to Detroit to win the cup after playing here for so many years before?

WOW...there is something I completely forgot about. RB was on that team for a full season.
My bad on Bourque's history, but I still think it was lame. The rally in Boston was way over the top.

Luc had already been traded to Pittsburgh, and the to NYR after what, 7 years. So he already wasn't a career one team player like Mats, or Ray had been. Detroit was Luc's 4th team, and he's a nice guy whom people like, so it also differs from the Blake situation as well.

Sundin isn't a career Maple Leaf either... that's two.
