Going to my first game in two years | | As a Kings' fan of twenty years, I typically used to go to 5-6 games a year. Bring the family once a year. At some point about two years ago I just got too disgusted to spend my money to see an overpaid Rob Blake put a listless effort, or watch the goalie-du-jour trying to plug the Kings' defensive sieve. I love watching Kopitar and Brown, but being an ol fashioned guy, I thought we pay professional athletes to win. In short, I decided I could not afford to waste my hard earned money on a defunct product.
I figured that in order to get me to Staples I would miraculously have to get a free luxury box ticket. Well, that miracle has happened. So I am going to watch the Stanley Cup champs, the 15-year old Ducks (!) today.
Ownership would not know the difference, nor would they care. The luxury box seats are paid for. But maybe I will get to see history in the making: The Kings finishing last in the NHL for the first time since the 1969-70 season. But hey, isn't this what we are all wishing for, including management which has its eyes set on the draft? |
