About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I cant see any GM giving up a 1st round pick in this draft for Rob Blake's services for 2 months. MAYBE a second round pick, late, i.e.
I cant see any GM giving up a 1st round pick in this draft for Rob Blake's services for 2 months. MAYBE a second round pick, late, i.e. Detroit, Ottawa etc...but there is no way a first rounder comes back to the Kings.
More likely the Kings can get a very decent prospect from a team who is "down" on one of thier guys for whatever reason, but DL still values.
Id love to see the Kings have 3 first rounders but it's not going to happen for Blake straight up.

Brent Sopel got us a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick. Matty got us a first round pick(yes one year away). Nagy was traded for a first round pick last year.
I know it sounds hard to believe but it is possible.
Blake will get AT LEAST a 1st round pick or a good prospect. Look at what Tkachuk and Weight received, along with the others that Belanger25 pointed out.
This year especially, there are very few quality defensemen available, specifically a potential #1 defensemen with a Stanley Cup under his belt. Blake started off poorly in the beginning of the season because of his hip surgery, but he has played extremely well this past month and his play continues to get stronger.
I imagine that Blake will fetch at least a #1 or quality player in return, and one or two mid-round picks.

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray acknowledges interest in an extra defenseman, but knows he has to get in line with a lot of other clubs in that regard. Who doesn't need another defenceman?
"There are just none available at the moment," Murray told the Ottawa Citizen.
Spector'shockey.net noted that as the trade deadline approaches, don't be surprised to hear the name of Los Angeles Kings defenseman Rob Blake statred to be linked to the Senators.
1999-Mar-23 Traded from Chicago Blackhawks to Detroit Red Wings for Anders Eriksson, round 1 pick in the 2001 draft and round 1 pick in the 1999 draft (Steve McCarthy)
Which may be a bit behind, but is on track to finish around those numbers.
I'm not going to go out and do all the homework I did the last time, but a former Norris winner, albeit in decline, that still can play 25 minutes a night, and chip in on the powerplay, is worth at least a 1st round pick and a decent prospect, so those of you who are absolutely clueless about what players are worth in this league, can go crawl back in your holes and keep booing him.
BTW, him on the offwing hammering one timers being fed from Lidstrom would be absolutely devistating, especially if Lidstrom's other option being Zetterbug.
Dude....Rob Blake is not now, nor has he ever been, the kind of player Chris Chelios was and/or is.
I think Rob Blake is a good d-man, and from what I hear from certain Kings players, he in fact DOES provide quality leadership on the team....but, he's no Chelios. So please, don't insult the Chili Man like that.
