Hey GG...
I'll go ahead and answer your intelligent, well thought out question and ignore captain dumbass above...
Its actually a pretty good place for kids as long as you take them with the mindset that you are going to spend time with them.
Theres a fantastic childrens interactive museum like 8 miles up Tropicana, away from the hustle of the strip... the shark reef at Manadalay is amazing and great place to take kids.
Of course the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur is just amazing and a really fun experience with family...not to mention the entire basement level of Excalibur thats an arcade.
Of course, theres a dozen magic shows, a kids specific magic show and a truly amazing animal circus at PH thats a blast.
And of course every hotel has a great pool, and I dont know about yours, but my daughter can swim for hours on end
We end up in Vegas probably 10 times a year, we have been bringing our little girl off and on since she was like 3...she is almost 7 now and of course, the older, the easier...(and more fun in a town like vegas)
Obviously, Vegas has changed a lot in the last 5 years as captain asslown above alluded to, a lot of the resorts are trying to engage a different clientele and focus on getting nightclubs full of clones drenched in AX dropping 500 bucks for bottle service...but its still a pretty friendly place for a family trip unless your sole mission is the tables....
NOW, heres our situation...
Like i said, we go quite a lot, and after the first year or so of taking Vegas trips and doing all the family stuff together, the wife and I both kind of agreed that we were there for different reasons, Myself..Vegas is about playing poker as much as humanly possible, eating at some nice restaurants, having a few drinks, relaxing and taking my mind off of work...for the wife and kid, they just love to visit all the attractions and have a good time hanging out together..
so we have come to this balance that works really..well..we usually all do something together in the mornng, the two of them run off and do whatever they have planned for the day... and we meet up for dinner and a show or something in the evening, once we get the kid to sleep I usually kick back in the room with the girl and let the wife go have some fun...
Works out pretty well, as we all get to do our thing and have a good time...
I hear you on the "escape" thing, there are also times when we either take the mother in law with to watch the girl while we go out or leave the kid at home with her and do our own trip...
Have a good one man...
(everyone else, hope we didnt go too far off topic)
