- According to the Edmonton Journal, the Oilers aren't likely to make too many moves because of injuries and a roster of young talent that they want to build upon, but would consider a young scoring winger in exchange for C Jarret Stoll, who will be a restricted free agent. The paper goes on to say that if a team wants to make a push for D Joni Pitkanen, it would take a winger like Alexander Frolov to make a deal work.
Not a trade rumor - just wondering how everyone feels about it.
A 25 year old point-per-game left winger signed for TWO more seasons at $2.9M/y? Tell me if that isn't the best bargain in the league at the moment (excluding entry-level contracts).
Pitkänen has size, youth and potential, but is injury-prone, average defensively, and an RFA after this season. He will seek a lot more than the $2.4M he is getting at the moment, 'cause as we all now, there aren't enough good Dmen in this league to meet demand.
However, if it was Cammalleri for Pitkänen AND Edmonton's 1st in '09... Taaavaarees!! :D
Frolov is one of the few players in the NHL who have the ability to strip the puck from players without taking the body. He also has great puck possession and ability to score. Those are all skills that are hard to replicate in another player. What I'm saying is Frolov is a speacial palyer and the Kings should hold on to!!!!
