About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Fox was named the top game analyst and our friend Hayward is 7th?

He's a homer, but as far as explaining the game (and ignoring the voice inflection quirks)... no one does it better - at least as far as LA sports is concerned. I can't think of an LA color guy I'd put ahead of Fox.

As the years go on listening to Jim Fox gets more and more annoying. He knows hockey and makes salient points but his voice inflections and stuck on stupid vocabulary can be tough to take sometimes.
All that said, he probably is at the top of the LA analyst heap. I llike Don MacLean on the UCLA basketball games better but Fox does know his stuff. LA has been abundantly blessed when it comes to play-by-play so its hard to complain about the lack of talent in the analyst pool but I have tried my best.
Forget what movie I heard it in, but Fox winning this award is like "being the smartest kid with down syndrome" I guess now Fox will never feel compelled to improve on his vocabulary issues. Personally I would throw a party if he went somewhere else. Give me Panger, Davidson or Melrose anyday. Actually Nick Nickson would be nice...
haha... it looks like LGK got to the poll. Fox has somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 votes as the BEST color guy, and Hayward has somewhere around the same number for the WORST color guy.

PANGER?! you've gotta be kidding me.
I challenge the idea that Fox is a homer. Globally, sure, as in he expects the Kings to win and is openly rooting for them to win, but I don't think that's homerism--it's when your analysis is totally biased toward your team that you're a useless hayward...like your guy scores and it's brilliant vision but the other guy scores and it's a lucky bounce; you take a penalty and it's a borderline call, other team takes one and you're rewarding the referees for getting it right; your goalie stops an ordinary shot and it's the save of the game, the other goalie makes a save and he didn't so much make the save but happened to have the puck bounce off him, etc.
bob and jim are as level as it gets when it comes to dishing out credit/blame...and they're kings fans.
Anyone that watched the last game on CIP knows the Blues' color guy is even worse than Hayturd.
This guy was inept, fumbled his words, and had no rhythm with the play-by-play man. Horrible. The butchering of the analysis of Fro's 3rd goal was the worst...spent so much time on whether Cammi made a kicking motion that he completely ignored that Fro tapped it in before it crossed the line, even though that was apparent on the first replay. Junk.
