Darcy Regier on Max Afinogenov: "he may well be one of these players who's ready for a change". He will enter the final year of his contract, but it looks like the Sabres will shop him.
Florida GM Jacques Martin will relinquish his coaching duties. His defensive system is not popular with the team. With a new coach, look for Jokinen to bounce back up over 85 points next year, while disappointments like Horton and Weiss should pop.
He has Million Dollar moves but 10 cent finishes. Afinogenov will always be the big tease. With his talent he should be hitting 70+ points a season, but he's only done it once. Lots of talent but injury prone and can be taken out of the game physically.
Love watching him play, but only because his chronic misses don't effect my team. No thanks.
That probably means Jokinen doesn't go anywhere...What do you guys think about Afinogenov?
NO!!!
Russian fans have always said that he should have tried out for the national speed skating team and given up his spot up spot in hockey to someone who can actually score.
With all of this guys talent his highest scoring season was six goals less than Mike Donnelly's best. Comparing the two on pure talent...that says a lot.
Everyone should also consider that he's missed 26 games each of the last two seasons. The Kings have never needed to add to the IR list.
