I totally saw this response coming..... classic....
I'd love to hear anything you guys are tossing around in your brains.
Well I did start a thread about moving up to take another of the top dmen in the draft?
About the idea - put me down as someone who would like to see LA make this move up and get one of the other 4 that are headlining this draft.
LA has a strength at forward, so to me it makes sense to move some from that (including prospects) to get into a position that gets another of those coveted blue chip defenders in this draft.
Can this also be used to get an NHL ready player? Sure. But 2 things that come with it are that the player will not have the upside potential and that they might be more complicated to make the deal with all of the cap/contract stuff. On the plus side a player we deal for will contribute for sure immediately and they have a very low likelihood of being a bust altogether.
I'm ready for a better balanced team that becomes competitive instead of a team that hoards forwards (while massively extending the reserve list) but still loses and isn't really any type of a real competitor for anything. I have a feeling this offseason is when DL makes this shift.
If Dean Makes some moves you just hope that that the coveted youngsters be left to at least try to prove themselves. I'm talking about players like Oscar Moller who I think will a bonafide star in the coming seasons. He could be really good with MCammalleri and say AFrolov. The Kings could then put BBoyle with MHandzus to learn the finer aspects of the centre position. That leaves TPurcell, MMoulson,LTukonen to fight for the remaining spots alongside holdovers DArmstrong and KCalder
I'd love to hear anything you guys are tossing around in your brains. Im sure DLombardi is doing the same. He wants two D-men from the top 7 and he's going to find and fight his way to making this happen. Here's to Deano, all the best of luck for him and the Kings organization in '08.
Well beside the fact that your post is not legit news... Ok ill overlook that and ask you who will be picked as 3rd? And as you said, Lombardi will sure be busy, but lets leave tradeing and jogling to him.
If DLombardi takes DDoughty for the Kings, Atlanta will take Zac Bogosian though they will be enticed by APietrangelo's size and potential. I'm not sure that Bogo becomes a top 2 D-man in the NHL. Pietrangelo has a very big upside.
