Sundin and a checker to the Ducks for Bobby Ryan, Edmonton's 1st, and both of their 2nds. (Burke is just posturing, he is going to deal that pick for offensive help).
We finish in dead last, win the Lottery, and get the first overall pick.
Lombardi deals the 1st to Toronto for their 1st, and Edmonton's 1st.
Toronto takes Stamkos.
You know its so crazy that just might work
Imagine, we give up #1 overall for possibly the 2nd and 3rd picks plus the Dallas #1(i think) and we could have 3 picks in the first round. but then again this is the Kings and **** like that doesn't happen.
I don't know if you have been watching the Kings play lately but I seriously doubt that the Kings will be picking #1. It's more likely that they will pick 10th. Forget about it. The Kings are not getting a swipe at Stamkos.
My thoughts from an eariler thread are below for your enjoyment:
You get a chance to pick an elite talent like Stamkos you do it and let him and kopitar give you one of the most lethal combos down the middle in the western conference (sakic and forsberg?) for years.
Then you take one of your extra talented young forwards (cammy or Osully) and package them with picks to get a great young defender like Jack Johnson. It's called maximizing your assets.
I know most here have a hard on for young defensmen because we have so many great young forwards, but you have to maximize your assets. Get that great young forward stamkos then take the overflow on your forward corps and package one of them for a great young D-man.
Drafting a kid like Stamkos who can be a superstar and a face to your franchise (ala Lecavlier, Kane, Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, Crosby, etc..) and you stabilize that position for years and use your overflow in forwards to trade for a great young D.
The Nordiques drafted Lindros first overall but traded him for Forsberg and others who helped them win 2 cups.
The point being, you take the player with the most value around the league, not the player with most value to your team. I know it's hard to envision but having an asset that is worth 10 is better than having an asset that's worth 9. Kings can draft stamkos and turn around and trade Cammy and a first for a great young defender.
If we had the option to trade down and pass on Stamkos but pick up both Schenn and Bogosain by trading the assets we got from tradin down what would you do?
