He is a good coach and did well with the youth while in Carolina. The leafs let him go because of bad management by the GM. It had cuffed him and any coach would have failed and been fired. He just happens to be the guy, it isn't a reflection of his coaching in my opinion. In fact, like Andy Murray commonly has done, he got more out of that team than he probably should have and thus hurt their draft position.
So would I take him in LA, sure, if we needed a coach. Like Crow or not, and I tend to not, there isn't a good reason to fire him right now. After this season, though, that may change.
The rumor out is that Melrose is going to go back to coaching. I'd be all for him and his love for defence back with the Kings.
How abt Marty as D coach? He'd at least teach the guys to stand up for themselves and the team.
