There was a scrum in front of the net and Perry was lurking and Lasorda yells "get that guy out of there!"!! I'm still concerned that this team is to soft as once again Labarbera has been hit several times and nothing really happens to the offender. This team now and in the off season needs a young Scott Thornton or a young Darius Kasparaitis to add some serious grit to this team which in my opinion is severely lacking. They need someone who has a presence of you mess with my guys and I mess with you. I know we have Ivanans who is good for what he is but we need someone who plays for a good part of the game who can be out there when the you know what goes down.

Couldn't agree more. We've got way too many softies on D:
Preising
Modry
Visnovsky
The other three: Blake, JMFJ and Stuart are semi-softies. These guys aren't complete ballerinas, but aren't going to get overly nasty w/ you in front of the net.
With guys like Modry, Blake and Stuart possibly on their way out, I hope the Kings pick up one or two stay a home guys. I want these guys to be willing to drop the gloves but not necessarily fighters. They would also be good skaters.
A lot to ask, I know, but I can dream can't I?

If I had my choice for gritty guys and bare in mind I don't know their contract status, it would be in no order:
Schubert/Ottawa-this guy is like a young Vishnevski and he hits all players not jus the tough guys. He also can play forward as well as d.
Sutton/New York-I'm pretty sure he's not available but to me he's just what the Kings need, someone who puts a little fear into opposing players. Trust me, if he were on the Kings that night Smyth hit Larbarbera, Smyth would still be picking splinters out of his back.
Orpik/Pittsburgh-he might be available as I think he may have worn his welcome out in Pittsburgh. Plays with an edge which the Kings d is severely lacking.
Hatcher/Philadelphia-slow as **** but you know he's out there which to me is just what the Kings need, I think a change of scenery would do him well.
Belak/Toronto-one of the toughest players in the league and he can play forward or d as well. Toronto will be cleaning house soon and Belak will be cheap contract wise.
