Remember he is playing this well on a last place team and with the kings defense. Teams are looking to make the playoffs like Nashville and he is still stopping them. I say he is the real deal based on his performance and the situation that the kings are in they should be getting blown out almost every game by playoff contending teams
It's nice not seeing ridiculous rebounds off every shot and no over commitment to the puck. I think Ersberg is only going to get better with the more action he sees.
I would really like to see Ersberg the number 1a, and Bernier 1b, for the start of the next season, both very capable young, and healthy. I'm sorry Labs is not the answer.
Real deal or late season flash in the pan?
On that same note-how long is he signed for?
Considering the Kings are consistently giving up north of 35 shots per game, I think he's certainly got the potential to carry the Kings through next season while Bernier cuts his teeth in the AHL. The save % is the key #. If he can make it through 40 shot games with only 0-2 goals allowed, that's saying a lot.
all he has shown is that he deserves to be qualified this summer, and given a chance for next season (barring some unforeseen #1 goaltender signing).
I would tend to agree with this. But the question is, what do you offer him if you're Lombardi? Ersberg made $725K with his bonus this season.
LaBarbera will make $850K next season. Bernier has a two-way that will make him $850K if he stays up. Do you offer Ersberg the same amount as those two guys, or more?
Definitely like what I see, and what others have said: quickness, lateral movement, something reassuring to watch him and his calmness in net, and he seems to FIND the puck very well, even through decent traffic in front of him over these six games (ok, not so much with Nashville yesterday).
Still, it's only six games and every goaltender gets on a hot streak once in a while. Keep playing him, even at the risk of losing a CHANCE at STAAAAAMMMMMMMKOS.
Ersberg was one of the best goalies last year in Swedish Eliteserien and was on team Sweden for the WC. So a REAL deal. I thought right from the start of the season (when I have heard of Kings signing him) they should play him instead of sending him down...
E. Ersberg has an almost comical calm when in net. He sometimes seems to be swatting away flies when the shots come in. When the heat is on he settles down even more. 6 games with decent stats and LOSSES is the reality of a great goalkeeper on a bad team. I hope that the upstairs guys are watching this kid play. If he had played those six games with a strong defensive team he may possibly have 6 wins and 2 shutouts. Heres to HOPING. Labs is a cool guy but Ersberg instills some confidence in his teammates and makes the EPIC saves when the game is on the line. Give him an 850k 1 year and lets make the playoffs.
He defintely looks promising but let's see how he does after the "book" is out on him. He seems to cover the lower part of the net real well. Keep in mind the teams he's faced were probably expecting beachball in net so he may be psyching them out a bit.

Well, his paragraph 1 NHL salary is $575. A 10% raise would bring it up to $632.5 in order to qualify him, which I think is a given.
Now, how much of upgrade over 632K would I be comfortable with? Keeping in mind that he isn't eligible for bonuses, and without looking at the committed salary for next season, I think a 2 way deal, with an NHL salary of $725 - 775, and an AHL salary of just under the re-entry waiver limit would be okay with me.
He has only played in 6 games with the big club. Does anyone know what his bonuses are tied to? Is it GP, and if so how many?
