As you can tell from my screen name, I enjoy the rough stuff. But something has been bugging me. I would really like to see the Kings go without an enforcer next season. Yes, I mean it, in fact I can't believe it's not common sense at this point. Having an enforcer is simply a waste of a roster spot, and a waste of the chance to roll 4 real lines. Someone please try and make a case that having an enforcer in our lineup has been a deterrent in any way to teams taking liberties with our top players. According to the code, a guy like Raitis can only fight other enforcers - that means that he is a complete non-threat to anyone not named Boogard or Brashear. That is what makes the code useless.
Mommy, what I would really like for Christmas is for the Kings to be just a little forward thinking here. Fighting is a great, great part of the game, and you will never hear me say otherwise, but let's be honest, what you need is about 5 guys in your lineup who are tough as nails and can drop the gloves when appropriate - not an enforcer. How about those times when the opposition doesn't even have one, what is the point of dressing a guy who can't play a regular shift and has no impact on how guys are going to play the game? If anything, having an enforcer is covering up our lack of team toughness like makeup over a zit.
Believe me, I love Ivanans and I love fighting when it's called for. But if I want to watch 11 forwards I'll watch an AHL game.
Um...look back to the Andy Murray tenure with the Kings and see what happened. Getting punked all night by every single team isn't very fun. I would personally cut his minutes a bit though. He doesn't need to be out there as much as he has is.

That's my point. We're still getting punked every night. It's not making a difference. But thanks for taking the time to actually respond.
As for Captain Obvious with the cute picture, yes I just signed up here last month. That doesn't make me a noob. Get over yourself and don't be teh retart. Ooh look, I used LGK lingo. Where the heck did that come from? Maybe you should do your homework and find out. Next thing you know you'll be asking if I've ever played the game. Please, get a new shtick, the elitism isn't as cool as you think it is.

The Andy Murray tenure probably had the most injuries in a season the King's ever had. We were pretty much taken out of contention on injuries alone with the exception of the 2001 playoffs.

Ivanans is no worse than the rest of the guys splitting time on the 4th line...While saying that gives a little credit to him as a player, it does a lot more to speak about the quality of our 4th line.
Seriously? Do you just want to start having the Kings wear figure skates now because with the lack of aggression we currently have and your call for no enforcer, that's what the team might as well be.
An enforcer is, in my opinion, just as important as ever before. In the past, they would be out there to protect their star players. Nowadays, physical play is such an integral part of the game, that sometimes you need that guy who's willing to take a beating (as well as give a beating) and set an example for the team to stand up for each other.
The willingness to fight together and form a strong bond and chemistry as a team is what separates contenders from pretenders.
You may feel it's the waste of a roster spot, but it's better to have that one guy willing to take on that role, than to ask a regular 3rd/4th liner to take his lumps on a consistent basis to set that necessary example for the team.
