About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. HockeyBuzz.com - Eklund - RUMOUR: Kings Have an Extension on Table for Brad Stuart +McCabe
If this is true, it actually makes me happy. Stuart has definitely endeared himself to me of late. I love his nasty streak. I would never have thought I'd be saying this back in December, so that's an indication of how much he's improved. I hope he takes the deal.
Yep. Stuart has turned his game around. He was a turnover machine for the first month or two... but he's been MUCH improved since January, and I like his play. I wouldnt mind a 2-3 year extension for him.
Lubo on the other hand.... its a shame his value has dropped so far now that he's not a valuable trade commodity anymore.
Let's trade Modry, Blake, Vis, Stuart, Priesing, and anyone else over 25! Time for an all rookie team! That's how you win!
Seriously, I do not mind the idea of resigning Stuart. After he got healthy, he has been fine. I just wonder what kind of contract we are talking about. 3.5 for 3-5 years is a bit steep in my opinion. But I really do not see him going for less.
I said it all along, along with some others, that Stuart was given a handshake deal for an extension when he signed in the off-season.
Don't think that happened one bit. It was more like:
DL: Stuart I'm giving you a chance with a one year deal.
Stuart: Thanks, considering I was finding it difficult for teams to have interest in me.
DL: I'm the one who originally drafted you. I believed in you, now go out and show me why I should continue to believe in you.
Stuart: I won't disappoint you, but I wish you would have given me a longer deal.
DL: I'm taking a chance on you for this one year. Show that you've got what it takes to stay in the NHL. Impress me then we will talk about longer deals at the end of the year.

yeah...I think petey's was more accurate. I'm sure other teams would have liked to have Stuart on their blueline.

You really think that there were a whole mess of teams waiting to sign Stuart at 3.5M? Also, there is one thing that you learn when negotiating contracts. It doesn't mean a dam thing until the pen is to the paper. Handshakes are basically meaningless.
