Speaking of seeing 2 ducks in the earlier thread, I ran into Dustin Brown at the Redondo Beach Post Office with his baby and wife. The line was kind of long and he was right behind me so we had a bit of a conversation. Really awesome guy. I'll sum it all up:
Basically he was bummed the season was over and that he can't watch the playoffs because it makes him think too much about how he wishes he could be playing. I mentioned that he had a helluva season and he said besides playing with some great guys, getting signed long term was huge because he knew his wife was pregnant and having that stability took a major weight off his back. He says Kopitar is the greatest player he's ever had skate beside him. He said they're going to spend a fair amount of time with their parents in the off season back east but his goal is to come back to the South Bay and train to be ready for next season. I asked him also about not winning the draft lottery and he said, with a smile of course, that the Kings don't need Stamkos because he'll score 45 next year. Then he added, that in reality Anze will be the one with huge year and anyone playing with him is bound to get a couple as a result.
Thats when I got called to the cashier and I thanked him for his time and for the great season. One other observation I had was dude is pale, like a ghost. I noticed this because he was in a tshirt and shorts. In any event, he was most gracious and seemed happy that I even recognized him. His wife didn't really say much other than they are very lucky because the baby doesn't ever cry it seems. I said just wait a couple more weeks, that'll change.
One other thing I noticed too was they seemed very comfortable about living in the area. When i asked him about his summer plans, they made it a point to say they were going to relax at home here a lot, rather than alot of players going home to where ever they are from.
In any event, its not quite Taco Bell or El Segundo but it was a cool run-in....

Great story. I absolutely love the fact that we have Dustin locked up for so long. I feel better and better about this team everyday. Here is to next season and our new phenom defense! GO KINGS!

Agreed. He's been my pick for captain for a long time. Even if the Kings lost a game, I was still cheering for the young kids scoring...Brownie, Kopi, O'Sullivan...It keeps me hopeful despite the odds. Makes me proud to wear 23.
