About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. The Fourth Period :: Anaheim Ducks :: Ducks favorites to land Blake?
I'd love to have that Edmonton #1 but it would kill me to help the quacks win back to
Doubt this will happen, but how great would it be if they traded him for edmontons first, and he preceded to sabotage the Ducks cup run. Then during the off season resigned with the Kings. All of the Blake haters would surely have to forgive.

Unlikely...but I would then say that I would be cheering for Blake.
He'd be a duck...I cannot find it in myself to root for ducks. even if Carmen Electra played for them butt nekid and was on a break away...and I was goalie...and she threw her stick asside and mouthed I'm gonna @#@$ your @#$# off...I'd still root against the ducks. I'd be divorced, and I'd totally accept the frostbite from the 45 seconds of bliss in the crease (yes, that's an in-your-endo), but I would boo her the whole time.
Why would you trade someone of Blake's caliber to your own division? From what I know of strategy, you would never make a trade to give a team in your own division a leg up. Makes no sense to me. I'd lose a little respect for management.

Because Blake's a rental, and the Kings aren't going to be within 20 points of a playoff spot? Seriously, I won't be rooting for the Ducks, but who cares? I want the highest possible return for Blake, from whatever team is willing to pay it.

I used to think that way and if Anaheim hadn't already won, I'd be angry at Lombardi for helping them in what could be their first Cup. Since they've already won, if LA could somehow end up with 2 of the top 5 picks, potentially one of them being 1st overall, along with the Dallas pick, you've got to make that move.
The Kings already have a ton of draft picks, plus I'd imagine Lombardi is going to be able to add some more by moving guys like Stuart and Nagy. He could go along way towards making this team better. Think of the possibilities Lombardi would have if he had an extra top 5 pick and another later first rounder to move, on top of the extra 2nds and 3rds he already has and might get at the deadline, not to mention some prospects or players LA already has. With 3 first rounders, potentially 2 in the top 5, Lombardi could trade for some defensive help, maybe a goalie, who knows.
Anaheim's got the cup, being spiteful isn't going to improve the Kings and if Anaheim makes the best offer, you've got to send Blake down the road.
