Nice read... I only sorta follow the NFL draft, just because sometimes, during that part of the year, thats all that is on ESPN.

I didn't know anything about the NHL draft.

Representatives from each team watch the drawing which is done by an independent firm. But if you want to believe a conspiracy theory, more power to you.

Check out that site listed earlier. Toronto has won the lottery each of the last 10 years. No kidding. Plus, they haven't been called for a minor penalty since 1992. That can't be a coincidence. Look it up.

I ran it 15 times and the 30th team won only twice :P that just shows how much luck the Kings will have come lottery day heh. DOUGHTY!!!!

I ran it 12 times the 30th place team won 6 times so it was pretty spot on for me

someone asked in another thread when the lottery is and the best I can tell its the day before the playoffs.

The Draft Drawing for the 2007 NHL Amateur Entry Draft will be held Tuesday April 10th at noon EST. At this time the Draft Order will be set, and those teams who did not make the playoffs will find out if they have moved up or down in the order.

and the first day of the playoffs last year was April 11th

and the 2006 lotto was held in the same timeframe.

so it looks like the 2008 lotto is going to be April 9th set your calendars

The draft lottery's been going since 1995, and it's only happened twice that teams outside of the top five have "won" the right to jump up: The Kings went from seventh to third in that first year (Aki Berg)

i thought the kings NEVER won anything.
