It looks like Luc's record for most goals by a Left Winger in a season is in jeopardy as Alexander Ovechkin just scored his 59th and 60th goals. He just needs 4 goals in the last 6 games to break this record. Although i'd be sad to see luc's record broken, i don't think there's any player that deserves this great honor than Ovechkin right now.
Yup... I've been talking about it over at Hfboards. What sucks is that not a single media outlet has even mentioned the record or the fact that Ovy is so close to breaking it. You'd think the NHL would realize just how marketable the kid is and at least MENTION that there is a record that he's close to breaking.

gotta get to 60 first...
now that thats over, they may not even still mention it, to the average/ new fan it doesn't sound anywhere close to anything significant. because it doesn't seem to matter what position they are as long as its a version of forward.
He might not do it this year but next year it will be done. And he is the 1st player to hit 60 goals in 12 years. I hope we will see a 50 in 50 sometime soon.
The more amazing thing is he's doing in an era with much less scoring. During 92/93, there were 7.25 goals/game. This season there are 5.46. So if ratio's keep up, AO would have about 80 goals to this point.
Not to take anything away from Ovechkin, he deserves all the acolades, but if the Kings were in the South East Division the Kings would have more wins and not in the basement.
