Listen. This franchise is in the second year of a MAJOR overhauling. Kind of like the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. The fact we didn't make the playoffs last year or this year is not a surprise. We are grooming kids and prospects to be solid NHLers. We are going to build a team through the draft and some trades and are looking to make the playoffs next year or the year after. Look what the Penguins did. Crosby - draft, Malkin - draft, Malone - draft, Staal- draft, Whitney - draft, Orpik- draft, Fluery - draft. Those are cornerstones of their team, then they went out and made trades for players to compliment them: Sykora, Roberts, Gonchar, Hossa (used original draft picks like Esposito, Armstrong and Christensen and a #1 pick to get Hossa) This is how you build a team. They did not qualify for the playoffs for about 4 years in a row during this rebuilding process. I know the Kings haven't quaiified in a just about the same time but haven't made it to the postseason lately because we never actually ever were REBUILDING. Our prospects sucked, our minor leagues were filled with crap and had nothing the build from. Those of you who see where Lombardi's plan is going, then I commend you. Those who don't, please stop complaining and go down the freeway to Anaheim and jump on the bandwagon. They built their team around youth in their system and great trades. Remember, Selanne came in for a trade for Kilger and Tverdovsky (both Ducks draft picks) This is how draft picks come in handy, when you wanna pull the trigger. We aren't gonna get Stamkos and we have to deal with it. Hang in there folks!

i agree with u. Everyone is saying that in a couple of years we will be the team to beat in the west.
I'm not saying that... and I haven't heard anyone else say it either.
A lot of things have to go right before this team is where we would like it, the path we're on is the correct one but getting to the promised land is not assured.
Sorry to burst your bubbles kids, now go back to voting for Kopitar.
i didn't and wouldn't vote for Kopitar. Kopitar has nothing on luck and never will. I heard it a on Some Tsn thing i think it was the trade deadline day or something like that. but thanks tonga
It's just that 06-07 ended with a slight bit of promise, but then this year there was really not much improvement.
We ended last season on a 6-and-13 skid, not sure how that was promising.I wasnt comparing the franchises championships or past. I am comparing the current rebuilding processes of each team. It's almost like starting a franchise from scratch and stockpiling draft picks and the such. I am pretty sure when Lombardi came in he just threw away our old ''blueprints'' and said lets just start this whole damn thing over and get it right this time! Thats gonna take time.
