ZEUS ASIDE. His first year sucked. No question. He, of all of them, stands to contribute the most over the length of his contract should he get healthy and play his proper role of third line shutdown guy. Ill give you this one in advance.
In regards to the rest of them...the wilsies, nagys, thorntons, cloutiers, etc of our stratosphere....
WHAT PART OF STOP-GAP, BRIDGE, AND FILLER PLAYERS DOES NOT COMPUTE FOR YOU?
SOMEONE HAS TO DRESS AND PLAY, AND IF AT THIS POINT YOU AREN'T GLAD DL LEFT THE KIDS IN MANCHESTER, PLEASE EXIT STAGE LEFT.
THANK YOU. BZZZ I'M NOT A ROBOT.

Amen, I'm glad someone gets it. All of our kids got significant playtime. All of them. All because we got fillers who wouldn't take any shifts away from the kids.
Amen. Although if Tampa gets the top pick I am blaming Wilsie Beast. How dare he start a goal scoring streak with Stamkos on the line?
The thing about Handzus is even if we picked him up as a shutdown center for the 3rd line (not how I remember him being sold) isn't four years at $4 million a bit pricey for that role? I remember that he was sold as a big center who could get 40-50 points and had good chemistry with Nagy. I also remember something about keeping Lubo happy with Slovakian players so he would resign. Oh well - I guess we have three more years to see if he deserved that contract. I liked the acquisition at the time - just not the price tag.

I agree, but Zues is supposed to be a 2nd line center. He practically averaged 50 points a season his entire career before coming to LA, I expect him to be able to return to his role as being one of the best two way forwards in the game as he has been for each team he has played for in the past. This injury must be significant for his play to drop this dramatically, last place team aside, he should be putting in better numbers, better minutes, and just overall better play come this time next year.
What UFA would want to play for the Kings anyway? DL is going to have to overpay, over-commit and offer up NTC's out the ass to get players here until the team becomes a winner. I don't envy his position at all.
We're not close to the cap, and by the time the cap becomes an issue, these buyouts and busted UFA's will be off the books (a big chunk are coming off this year alone).

MCL and ACL is pretty catastrophic and tall guys have a tougher road to recovery. According to DL he was looked at as a stopgap at 2nd line center and long-term 3rd line. He hadn't played for almost a whole year so anyone who signed him was taking a bit of a gamble. The consensus was though, at the time, that this was a good signing. Hopefully, he will work out this summer and come back looking like the old Zeus.

I hope so, this coming year will be extremely important for both Handzus and the Kings. Handzus is one of, correct me if im wrong, about 4 players on the entire roster to play in every single game this year. IMO thats huge for someones confidence after a potentially career ending injury. If he doesnt come back next year with what many people know he is capable of, then yes, this signing will have been a bust.

Yeah, but he better not overpay on a one or two year contract, or give any of those UFAs an NTC, because if he does he's a crappy GM.
Have a look at that thread where someone ran into Jim Fox and Dave Lewis. For Lewis, the headline for the Kings this year was how totally their UFAs sucked, if they'd done what they had done for other teams the Kings would have been fine. At some point that lands at DL's feet. He made the judgement to hire these people.
