...The paper goes on to say that if a team wants to make a push for D Joni Pitkanen, it would take a winger like Alexander Frolov to make a deal work.
first Dwayne Roloson is forced to move out of town because his kids were being harassed at school, now a reporter for their newspaper is implying that it would take someone like Alexander Frolov to land Joni Pitkanen... man, there MUST be some serious sherm in the Edmonton water system.
why didn't he just say "Unless you plan on getting ripped off, don't make any inquiries about Joni Pitkanen." ???
From a value standpoint, Cammalleri should be enough for Pitkanen, although I would rather have Suter. I doubt that Edmonton would want another smallish winger though when they already have a couple.

My friend, please tell me your joking.
Pitkanen, former #1 pick of the Flyers 4th overall is slowly developing into Aki Berg Part 2.
He will be an RFA after this season and his rumored upside, former draft position and size will command $$$.
But his current ineffectiveness, inability to hit the open man, inability clear out the front of the net, inability to hit the net with his shot and all around bland play since Sheldon "Tin Man" Souray got hurt and how much he thinks he's worth is concerning Edmonton and if they could pass him off to a sucker they will.
The Kings are already saddled with Lubo's 5 @ 5.65. JMFJ, Hickey on the way, Priceline and probably Blake. No room at the Inn unless the Kings can swap him for Priceline straight up.

As I said, I would rather have Suter than Pitkanen, but there is plenty of room to add another good young defenseman.
Hickey won't be here for a couple of more seasons, unless we are really lucky.
Candidates for next year's blueline would be:
Visnovsky
J. Johnson
Preissing
Young defenseman acquired in said trade
Stuart
Blake
Harrold
Still a possibility that Stuart is moved at the deadline or doesn't re-sign, and who's to say that Blake is guaranteed to return. There is plenty of room on this roster for a good young defenseman.
