About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Is anyone else glad that our defense is probably gonna look like this for the rest of the season?
Lubo - not his year
Jack - rookie
Blake - old, injured
Pressing - soft

This is going to tremendously help us achieve that #1 pick. I was getting nervous there for a while as we were definitely starting to win too much.
Also, I've seen a couple of people on here, in addition to Lombardi, talk about the fact we don't need to draft another forward in this upcoming draft (aka Stamkos). I'm curious to know why we wouldnt just draft the best player available and then trade him for what we need. Anyone have any insight on this?
You are not allowed to root for the #1 pick. Many will question you love of the Kings and say you are less of a fan for rooting for such an outcome. I will then print their post and do a Pittsburgh Platter on it.

The question that was asked Lombardi was worded specifically this way: "Stamkos or Doughty?" -- to choose between the two -- and the response was that if you evaluate those two individuals as being equal in talent and future projection then you have to examine the positions they play. That's when he dropped the Goalie > Defense > Center > Winger scale of importance then ended it at that without saying who he really preferred.
From there the inference a lot of Kings fans made was that Lombardi would draft a defenseman and not Stamkos, which is predicated on the assumption that Lombardi views Doughty and Stamkos' skill level to be the same. If he evaluates Stamkos' talent to be higher then what he said still holds true and he drafts Stamkos.
