Then your head will explode.
Besides saying he wants to be on a better team, what else has he said? Is it just that he's given up on the team? Whenever I watch his interviews, he always seems optimistic...but maybe that's of a game-by-game rather than career perspective.
He doesn't want to lie. He knows from his 5 years in Denver that LA Kings fans are whiny shmucks who could not comprehend that the NHL is a business (for the players as much as the owners) if a Wharton professor hit them over the head with a (hardbound) copy of Hayek's Individualism and Economic Order (pub. 1948, University Of Chicago Press).
You're not dumb. Stop pretending to believe the cliches that athletes spew for public consumption (which they say to curry favor with fans, media, & management). All athletes have to look out for themselves because nobody else will.
BTW, acorns are gathered, hockey wins have to be produced.
You beat me to the comment on the fans. The fans have been flaming him since they heard Blake re-signed. Who wants to play for people like that? What do you owe them?
Secondly, I want to know what questions were asked of each one. If we've learned anything from the media, especially during this election, we should have learned that it's the way they ask the questions as well as WHICH ones they ask.
Stuart's play has been less than acceptable all season long. Based upon the strength of one game you think it would be a good idea to resign him and slot him in a top 4 defensive slot? (top 4 is where you would put him if Blake is jettisoned and Stuart is resigned).
As for his play last night I don't think he played all that well. He didn't get himself in good position to properly defend the goal by Franzen. In fact, Stuart's stick was inside the net while Franzen was stuffing that goal home. Franzen, standing in the crease, was able to kick the puck to his stick and stuff it in the corner of the net because Stuart failed to clear him out of the crease or tie up Franzen's stick.
Quite frankly....I think Stuart is showing LA why he's constantly being moved from team to team.

According to DL, Rob Blake had "many offers" and chose to come back to L.A. for the severely overpaid price of 12 million dollars.
Let me repeat that
12 million dollars.
This, after collecting 9 million dollars A YEAR for 4 years from Colorado.
Lets add:
9X4 = 36 million + 12 million = 48 million.
FORTY EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS
To a player who says he'd rather play somewhere else.

And Rob should have said the same thing to every question, but he didn't.
I am a Los Angeles King - I cannot control what happens - I only want to try and win here... that's what Brad Stuart said, why couldn't Rob? Has he not taken any spin doctoring lessons with all of that money he's earned?
The guy was repeatedly BOOOOOOOOED every time he touched the puck, but still decides to play here?

Come on.
You should be a reporter - you can misconstrue a statement better than anyone I know.
You're pi$$ed off that he came back, you're mad that he supposedly doesn't want to stay, which hasn't been proven to me.
A reporter asked Blake if he would waive his NTC and he said he would consider it IF the team came to him first, that doesn't prove to me that he's discontent. All it proves to me is that if the management of this team thought it would be a good idea to trade Blake and approached him about it, he'd consider it. Plan and simple. No hatred.

Ok, the team would have to come to him anyways to ask him to waive the NTC. That is pretty ****ing obvious.

Don't berate me, I'm familiar with how it works - the news media asked the question. I'm just saying there seemed to be no animosity or asking to be traded by Blake. It seems to have been all taken out of context.
I don't know what captain means to you all, but when I was growing up it meant who got to talk to the referee on the ice. If you want to point fingers at someone for "leadership" you point them to Crawford. Blake is being paid to follow instructions/orders/whatever just like anyone else on this team. He has no control over what goes on on the ice except to play his position. And from what I've seen this season he's done just as well and any other member of this team.
This team lacks consistency. There's a simple explanation for that and it's not Blake.
If Blake had said 'I don't want to leave. I love it here. I believe in the plan and where the team is going. I want to stay for the long haul' he'd get blasted because it'd sound like he'd be unwilling to waive his NTC thus making him selfish for not wanting to sacrifice a little for the good of the future of the team.
