About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. After the Ducks catch them for the division crown, at worst the pick will be 24th overall. (unless Dallas makes it to the conference finals or better).

I'd be happy if the pick ends up being the 30th pick, because it would mean the Ducks didn't go back to back.
Exactly. I would actually like for Dallas to win the pacific, thus the Ducks would have to face the Sharks in the first round (better chances of the Ducks being eliminated)

Or atleast having the serries going 7 games with quite a few OT's thrown in there to wear them out.
How is the draft order for playoff teams determined this year? Is it strictly based on playoff performance, or are the regular season standings factored in?

30th - Cup winner
29th - Cup finalist
27th and 28th - cup semifinalists ranked by points
Then, division leaders who didn't make the semi-finals get ranked by points. If NO division leaders made the semi-finals, they would be ranked from 21st - 26th; if one made the semi-finals, the picks would be ranked 22nd - 26th, etc. After that, all teams who didn't make the semifinals OR win the division get ranked.
So the best realistic scenario would be
- Anaheim not winning the cup (doesn't affect ours or their draft position, but just personal satisfaction)
- Dallas not winning the division
- four non-division winning teams OTHER THAN Dallas making it as far as the cup semi-finals.
- Kings winning the lottery
If all that happens, Kings would get the 1st and 20th picks, since Dallas will likely have the most points of any non-divisional winner.
