I think this was a mistake by both Montreal & Washington, whom must be starving at a place in the post-season (gave up a 2nd for a UFA & the other transactions).
Do you think we could pry Huet from WASH in the off-season?
he's a UFA, right? could be another player "coming home"...

I don't understand what Montreal was thinking but it's great for Washington. They could make the playoffs and possibly go up against MOntreal in the first round. If they miss... Federov and Huet are UFA at the end of the season.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Nothing like a scrimmage game to start the playoffs off on the right foot

I guess they think their savior is ready. Good luck Carey Price.
Cristobal Huet would be a welcome addition between the pipes.
The only problem is as long as Cloutier shows signs of life the Kings won't buy out his awful contract. The Kings are too cheap to buy out Cloutier, sign Huet and still pay Bernier and LaBarbera. They'll risk Bernier's development before committing another 4 million to a goaltender, they've already proved that this year.
Gainey always trades away soon-to-be UFA's. He also obviously believes that: 1. Price is better than Huet and ready to take over as No. 1 and; 2. Whoever they just brought up to be the back up is as good or better than Huet.
I'm guessing that he knows his personnel better than most of us.
