Coutier looked healthy and very steady last night. In my opinion, he showed why he once was considered a good goalie in this league. He didn't stand on his head last night, but he made some really good saves; stability comes to mind. Unlike LaBarbara, he did not let in any soft goals and that was nice to see as our other goalies seem to give up at least 1 soft goal per night. This guy, when healthy, is the real deal and showed it last night. I predict that if he is cured of his ailments, he will be the King's #1. However, before I get too excited, let's see him perform over a 10 game timeframe to make sure he's back and won't simply pull up lame again. In my opinion, his performance last night was head and shoulders above LaBarbara.

Ahem, wrong. He played well, but to say he got his game back on track based on ONE game is insane.
"/.../Unlike LaBarbara, he did not let in any soft goals/.../"
"/.../head and shoulders above LaBarbera/.../"
You say WHAT?!
You are either:
a) Very drunk.
or
b) Posting from a hospital after serious head injury that included major expose to radiation.
or
c) Mentally equal to a new-born child.
I assume you're b) because your spelling wasn't so bad...
You are saying that Labarbera gives up a lot of soft goals, and that Clouts is way better than him... Because of that game against Detroit!!!
Clearly, you need to learn to read more than the title of a comment. I said that we need to see many more games but that last night was a quality game. Let's face it, the issue here is his health, not his ability.
LaBarbera will need to tweak his game a bit to be a consistent #1 goalie. He needs to be able to make the saves an NHL goalie is supposed to make each and every time and tweak his body language as I'm not sure but would assume might affect his play or affect the play of his team. He also needs to work on his positioning and he needs to be quicker off the ice.
A goalie will learn those things when he gets experience and plays behind a solid team, which the Kings still are not.
As for Cloutier, he made the saves an NHL goalie needs to make and got help from his team. Therefore, he won.
Cloutier is not a bad goaltender. This guy is an outstanding goaltender WHEN HE IS HEALTHY!. If he is sound now, he will be the #1, LaBarbara or eventually Bernier will be the #2. Bernier will become a #1 in this league, but LaBarbara looks like a #2 to me.
cloutier looked good in YESTERDAYS game but we'll see how he does i gotta say i like the fact that he wont take any **** from anyone he's tough he made good saves the second goal he let in wouldve been let in by ALOT of goalies in this league he had a good game he was solid hopefully he can stay healthy and maybe not even get bought out who knows
I thought the exact opposite of this thread. IMHO he looked very average at best. He often seems unsettled and truthfully Kopi bailed him out from losing the game with that great stick save to keep the game tied at 2. Clouts was completely out of position for that one. Clouts did seem to get into the butterfly much quicker than I have seem him and that bodes well I guess. Still he reminds me too much of Chokematic to give me confidence that he can be a great #1. He just does not exude that calming efect and composure that others typically bring to the table.
Dont forget, we played C-Bus not exactly a stellar offensive team.

Quick on his feet, quick to get into position and he didn't give up huge rebounds like JBL. He played well last night. It is only 1 game back but so far so good.
If he continues to play well, it will be interesting to see whether other teams bite on him, thinking he's now heallthy. Are the Kings simply auditioning him before the trade deadline, praying that someone takes him off of their hands?
