Cloutier is not a bad goaltender. This guy is an outstanding goaltender WHEN HE IS HEALTHY!. If he is sound now, he will be the #1, LaBarbara or eventually Bernier will be the #2. Bernier will become a #1 in this league, but LaBarbara looks like a #2 to me.
How I hope you're right. But I'm not very optimistic...
When the Kings go into games, I'll look at their star players to see how the Kings match up against them. In past years in looking at the opposing goalie, you realize they may have a tough time scoring if they're going up against Brouduer, Turco, Hasek, Guiguere, Nabokov, Belfour or Roy (in their prime), etc.
I NEVER worried about Cloutier. He was never even on the radar. I always viewed him as ho hum goalie, no big deal... Now that we got him, I'm even less impressed.
But I still hope you're right about him.
p.s. I too think JLB gives up too many soft goals and his positioning just doesn't seem to be very good. This was supposed to be JLB's year to shine, to show DL that he made a big mistake by leaving him in Manchester last season, but he seems to have more weak games than strong ones.
To all you haters: If Cloutier continues to play well down the stretch and is on his game next year, DL will not have to acquire or spend cap dollars (after buying Cloutier out) on another bridge goalie.
'08-'09: LaBarbera and Cloutier, with Bernier in the AHL
'09-'10: Bernier and LaBarbera
That's a good thing.
The haters have a reason to hate. I give Cloutier credit (for his character) for trying to play through his injuries, but they were bad enough that he should have taken the time off to get healthy instead of playing and dragging the rest of the team down with him.
Again, you have to give this guy credit. He may not have liked being sent to Manchester, but it seems that he worked while he was there and, at least against Columbus, he resembled an NHL goalie. I agree with WyNotKngs? in that getting a healthy Cloutier is nothing but good for the Kings. There is nothing Cloutier can do in two weeks that will convince a team to trade for him, so anyone thinking along those lines better get that hallucination out of their head. However, a healthy Cloutier means having a #2 goalie next season (and not wasting salary cap room for the next two seasons), while waiting for Bernier to return to the big show.

Now that is wrong IMO.
JLB has these numbers:
2.94 .911
I call him a solid enough goalie. Not stellar, no. Not elite, far from that. Adequate for the stage this team is at? Yes.
Save percentage is not bad at all, and GAA would improve with less shots against.
Sure, both D and JLB need to work in order to get where we would want them, but considering the situation, JLB is a solid enough goalie.
And I wonder why I read majority of "JLB has been giving up bad goals" statements after his recent games (Detroit...).
And I strongly disagree with "More weak games than strong games".
And last year, admit it, a .911 goalie was a WET DREAM for us.
Heh... this thread reminds me of the guy that always defended and was in love with Storr. Can't recall his name off the top of my head
That guy's name was Chad Rawn; everyone who's posted in this thread so far has a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go before they reach legendary Rawn fanboi status.

Hey easy there Rob, only 1 more season of Cloutier-hate coming... but if he plays like his FRIST game, we'll be ok with him here. (yeah, right - that'll happen)
09-10? whoever plays goal in L.A. is gettin' the Vezina...
