I agree with this statement 100%. His ice time will play a big role in his development. I thought you were trying to use his ice time to justify how good a player he was.
As far as his development goes, I think Kings need to reevaluate how they use him. He needs to be working on his defense first and then his offense rather than vice versa.
Hasn't he spent most of the season working on his defense rather than offense?
people....all that Byatch is saying is that so far Jack has done nothing at the NHL level that indicates that he will be the dominating defeneman that people believed he would be when they came up with "JMFJ" and "Kill, Jack, Kill."
He hasn't said that he sucks, or that he is a bust or that he should be traded. If you disagree then please explain why. If all you do is retort with the same tired old LGK propoganda then all you are doing is making his point.
You're right, he hasn't come in and scored hat tricks in every game, killed multiple goalies with slap shots, and stained the glass with the blood of his enemies as the threads and photoshops said he would be. He has played better than I expected though. He is rarely ever making glaring rookie mistakes, making crisp, tape-to-tape outlet passes, covering well defensively (on entires, in the corners, and in front of the net), and when given the opportunity showing good hockey sense about when and where to pinch in, and ever burning some opponents with his skating and puck handling ability. He does still make some mistakes, but he's a god damn 20-year-old rookie defenseman on a horrible team for christ's sake.
Yes, he hasn't had Phanuef's rookie year, but I wasn't expecting that.

The kid is solid. Nobody is saying otherwise. I think that the whole idea of the thread is that perhaps people shoudl wait a bit longer before handing out a nickname. At least that is how I took it.

I see and can agree with that. I have just been calling him Jack whenever I refer to him, although I do wear my JMFJ shirt still.

He plays offense more than the real forwards. I think his defense needs so fine tuning before he devotes himself to being an offensive defenseman. I'm not calling him out because he is still young but I think the coaches need to set his priorities.

I think they have already. It seems obvious, to me at least, that he has been told to stay back and work on the defensive side of his game, if not he would carry the puck up or jump into the play way more.
