Are you talking about Cammalleri or Frolov when you talk about "extremely streaky?" He hasn't gone more then 3-4 games this season without a point. He might not be putting up the big numbers in the goals scored column, but he was still near a point per game player before the injury. I don't really see the "extremely streaky" part. He was hot at the beginning of the season and other teams have noticed that and are all over him now.
Frolov had just 4 goals in the first 29 games this season
O'sullivan has 3 in his last 19 games this season
Nagy has 5 goals in his last 24 games this season......... 3 of which came on his hat trick night.
Cammalleri has 3 goals in his last 19 games this season.
Frolov is considered a playmaker...
O'Sullivan is YOUNG. He still has lots of time to prove he is THE scorer.
Nagy? Nagy is Nagy.
People should make a note: Which aspect of his game is considered his main (only? :P) aspect? Scoring. Which aspect of his game make him so "valuable" to this team? Scoring. Which aspect of his game do WE expect to shine? Scoring.
Scoring scoring and scoring.
I'm NOT AT ALL surprised that this team DIDN'T miss him while he was injured.
If the squid didn't hold us for ransom with his demands for 6 million (Austin Powers voice) dollars, I would think a little more highly of him
He didn't hold anybody for ransom. It was right to do so. As was it the Kings right to counter offer what they offered.
What about Brown the season before. He did the same thing then signed a qualifying offer instead of arbitration.
Was he greedy?
One problem is that 80-point scorers were getting that type of coin that off season.
Some of the higher profile signings that off season were, and their 07/08 and 08/09 salary except Marleau who signed but for the following 2.
Cammi, LAK 3.1-mil, 3.6-mil, season before 80 points, career .729 PPG, 1 80 point season
Vanek, Buffalo 10-mil, 8-mil, season before 84 points, career .777 PPG 1 80+ point seasons
Briere, Philly 10-mil, 8-mil, season before 95 points, career .793 PPG, 1 80+ point seasons
Gomez, NYR 10-mil, 8-mil, season before 60 points, career .833 PPG, 1 80+ point seasons
Drury, NRY 7.1-mil, 7.1-mil, season before 69 points, career .735 PPG, 0 80 point seasons
Smyth, Col 7.5-mil, 7.2-mil, season before 68 points, career .716 PPG, 0 80 point seasons
Datsyuk, Det 6.7-mil, 6.7-mil, season before 87 points, career .93 PPG, 2 80+ point seasons
Kariya, STl 6.0-mil, 6.0-mil, season before 76 points, career 1.04 PPG, 6 80+ point seasons
Nylander, Was 5.5-mil, 5.5-mil, season before 83 points, career .761 PPG, 1 80+ point season.
Special Consideration 08/09 and 09/10 salaries
Marleau, SJS 6.3-mil, 6.3-mil, season before 78 points, career .672 PPG, 1 80+ point season.
What about you, if some of your peers in your industry were getting huge raises. And it was your turn what would you do? You would use their recent good fortune to your advantage.
If I was Cammi I would have asked for 6-mil as well as would you.

outside of Vanek, whose situation needs no explanation, you have chosen a pretty righteous list of well established NHL players (and few All Stars) as a comparative in what can appear to be a way to frame your argument.
i think this will give you a better primer in terms of what Cammalleri should have gotten and DID get.
This is not an "I told you so" thread. It's a "Nobody is perfect" thread, everyone makes mistakes. A little more self-criticism of our own opinions is definitely a good thing for each and every LGK-er. Ok, maybe it is just a little bit of "Even I'm correct once per year."
Cammalleri is NOT a scorer he should be to survive in this organization that is full of wingers. This makes him expendable. Which means it's the best FOR THIS TEAM that he gets traded for something we need more. This is called wise asset management.
Cam Shaft is not worth the amount he feels he is, trade him on draft day to get more pieces to the puzzle of the organ-EYE-zation for years to come.
What if Cammy discovered his true value? What if he realized he is not a 6M player and wants to sign for considerably less? Not possible? Not probable?

It's possible and probable that at some point your could have a point that makes sense. Both things are about as likely.
